Question regarding Eurcharist/altar bread. Doing Holy Days/Holidays there is a altar bread/Wafer we can buy (roman catholic, caltholic’s) and break/celebrate with family.
What is the name the eurcharist we are allowed to purchase to share in this event/celebration?
Is it concelebrated(altar bread)?
Where can it be purchased at?

**You cannot buy the Eucharist.

The unconsecrated bread, be it leavened or unleavened, regardless of the source, is NOT the Eucharist.

Any particular reason why you want to eat unconsecrated altar bread?**

What you are refering to is called OPLATKY in Slovak. IT IS NOT ALTAR BREAD!!!

It is made in using the same ingridents as the host in the Roman tradition. The wafers are rectangular in shape and are stamped with scenes of the Nativity and related events; i.e. shepherds, 3 kings etc.

In Slovak and Polish homes on Christmas Eve a special meal is eaten and the OPLATKY is eaten by each person at the table to begin the meal. In some Polish homes, a single OPLATKA is broken by the head of the household and a piece is given to each person at the table.

You can buy OPLATKY irons and make your own or you can buy them at your local Slovak or Polish church or store. They are readily available before the Christmas Holidays. They are not likely to be available now that the Holidays are over.

Hope this helps…
