Hi,
On the question of the Papacy, a friend of mine brought up the fact, that Eusebius didn’t write anything about it, allthough his work is concerned about such matters as authority, apostolic succession and offices in the Church. He says further, that no one suggest a Roman primacy until after 500.
Can anyone explain why Eusebius would omit such an important thing - if indeed he does; I haven’t read his works myself- as the papacy?
It is an argument from silence, but a decent one, I should say. We could expect Eusebius to touch on the subject if there were such a thing.
Also, are there any early sources that supports the papacy as a distinct office from just bishop?
