Was Eusebius a Catholic or heretict? I read a (hard to follow) web site where some said he was a Catholic but others a heretict to Catholicism as he defended the Arians. Does anyone know about this?

Which Eusebius are you referring to? There were a few in the early days.

Eusebius the Historian, around the 4th century(?), was instrumental in giving us the history of the early church. The problem was, he was rather enamored with Constantine, and may have been a little too prejudiced in his writings toward him and Arianism.
He was a fallible man, but he was a valuable asset in preserving our early history.

I believe he was a supporter of the Arian movement, although I think he returned to support the side of Orthodoxy in a Church Council. I read his History of the Church this summer, and it discussed this in the intro, but I no longer have it to reference.
Regardless of his personal beliefs, his History is incredibly important to us. Fortunately, it relies heavily on quoting primary sources which makes it very difficult for any personal errors he may or may not have to shine through.
