Evangelical Free Church

My girlfriend attends a church nearby known as the “Evangelical Free Church.” I looked at their website, as well as Wikipedia (for what it’s worth), and they appear to accept the creeds and the Trinity, but I do not know much more about them. She has stated that she will attend Mass if I go with her to one of their services, but, if they are too “off the mark,” I think I’ll just pass on her offer, and see if she won’t change her mind about coming to Mass (given that this is a small town, and I am very active/visible in my parish and the K of C, I would be a little leery about being seen attending a Protestant service in any event).

What can someone who knows a little bit more about Protestantism tell me about them?

Their sermons tend to be in-depth and have “meat” to them. Like the Bible churches, I think they are two of the groups that really try to educate their members.
They sung loudly and with zest.
Nothing too odd at all. Think Southern Baptist with quite a bit more depth. IMO

When I attended college many many moons ago at George Fox College(now George Fox University), almost a third of the students were EFC. They are a conservative group with very “orthodox” beliefs which I think you’d be very comfortable with…they are extremely “low church”…I attended one meeting for worship and they had a communion table with an open Bible and two candles in front of a centrally located pulpit. They had an “alter rail/mourner’s bench” up front.

Similar to Evangelical Friends and conservative Nazarenes or Free Methodists…Arminian/Weslyan in belief.
