Evangelical Type Masses

I was wondering if anyone here has experienced a “evangelical” mass. Ie a Catholic Mass, celebrated in a way that it closely resembles an Evangelical Service, dancers, rock music etc.

Are these masses in and of themselves evil or just because they disobey Church law? Thanks

Liturgical dancers are prohibited but I think it’s a pretty big step to go from ‘prohibited’ to ‘evil’! While ‘rock’ music may be questionable it is not even expressly prohibited. Those that disobey Church law would be guilty of evil but to call a valid Mass evil???

If by ‘Evangelical Service’ you mean a non-Catholic service then no, I have never seen such a Catholic Mass because every Catholic Mass includes a Eucharistic Prayer/Consecration and there is no such part in the non-Catholic service. The inclusion of or lack of dancers and rock music cannot overshadow such an important difference in my eyes.

I do not understand the use of the word “Evangelical”. Having been raised in one (now I’m Catholic) the services were somber. It kinda like we used to make fun of the fundi’s. I always dislike people lumping the evangelicals in with the fundamentalists.

I suppose that there are differences in “evangelicals”, but what I would consider to be evangelical are your Baptist churches.

And the Baptist services that I have attended have hardly been somber according to any definition of the word I know. Actually they have been quite rousing and emotional, with the minister dancing, and aymening, and preaching both loudly and long, and the loud music.

Now, presbyterians and episcopals are soft spoken and more scholarly, and even somber, but not the baptists and pentecostals from what I’ve seen. And those are the folks I’d call “evangelicals”.
Although I suppose there are variations, and somber baptists, I haven’t personally seen them.
