Evangelize with T-Shirts?

T shirts seem to be a great way to get the word out, but only if those who wear them also engage in conversations when someone asks about the shirt. That to me is the critical part of evangelizing. We can put up billboards to raise awareness but if someone sees one of those and doesn’t know where to ask about it, does it actually accomplish anything? Same with T-shirts. People who wear them must be ready to talk about them.

These are in style like what the rest of teens/young adults wear. You can’t tell the difference, except the message.

Sometimes the others are so cheesy that most teens wouldn’t be caught dead in them.

I have found that Survivor 73 Tee shirts are excellent… everyone asks what it means and then you can either show them the back of the shirt or tell them… the back says:
“Since 1973 1/3 of my generation has been slaughtered by abortion at the rate of 4000 babies per day. My friends…My classmates…My generation compromised by the selfishness of others. As a survivor I will not let future generations be slaughtered in the name of convenience. I will not be silent. I will not forget. I will not compromise.”

My son loves this one best… and it was awesome when I gave it to my son and explained it… he was shocked there were so many. It also showed him the point of view that his potential classmates and friends were aborted by someone’s selfishness.

Am I the only poster who doesn’t like these things? It doesn’t seem right to commercialize our faith as if we were advertising a soft drink. Must we imitate the evangelicals in everything? Where is the reverence?

We evangelize best through prayer and by how we live…not by following the ways of the world.

None of these are to my taste. I don’t even wear Tshits. But I think that the idea is to put your faith out there for others to see and, if they respond, you now have an open door to dialog with them, to see if they are interested in the faith. Its like a walking billboard, but you one that can be interactive. Not for everyone. Certainly for some.
 
I like a lot of the t-shirts I see, except I personally don’t like t-shirts with big, bold pictures or huge words on the front. I wish they would make more that had something smaller in front - similar to the size and placement of a shirt pocket, and then have the larger/more wording on the back. Plus, I much prefer v-neck tshirts which are REALLY hard to find! Not that I’m picky or anything… 😃
 
I evangelize, with my big family, the crucifix I wear .The rosary that hangs on my mirror in my car. When ever I make the sign of the cross in front of someone. The keychain that my sister sent me, from the Vatican ,of the Pope. And everytime someone makes a crude remark about the Catholic Church in front of me! I explain in a loving voice, as if they were my children, how what they are saying is wrong. I evangelize!

I like the t-shirts! I like being out of my comfort zone. I am a soldier of Christ. I’ll spread the message anyway I can. I am willing to be a walking "bill-board "for Christ.

Does anyone know of some “Polo” type shirts with a Catholic message embroidered on the chest or the sleeve? 🤷

I like the concept of these shirts but honestly don’t ever wear T-shirts. Even my causal shirts are button front shirts and the closest thing I have to a T-shirt are a couple polo style shirts.

I would think at the JFK library or museum. I got my bust of George Washington at Mt. Vernon. Just an idea. Also, sometimes the Smithsonian carries busts of various popular presidents. Just check online.

Well those are Catholic, but they lack the ‘cool’ factor that I was hoping for 😊 Sorry to say it, but some of those look like shirts that a “grampa” would wear and I’m not that old (yet). I was hoping for something that is far more modern and still spiritual. I think that some of the modern designs tend to create conversations because people see the design and are attracted to it . . . and secondly they see it as a Catholic design. That is actually an effective thing in evangelization because if you announce religion up front many people send up their self defense barrier and shut you out. But if you can be cool and be religious then you may get them to hear a message.

I made a drawing of my favorite president and use one of his famous quotes…its on my tee shirts etc…I receive many favorable comments on it…both the little logo at the front and the verse on the back…but it seems to have more influence then average for I am physically in fine shape (he was for fitness) I dont curse (he was mr.clean) I am not a bigot (he was the first president to invite a former slave to the white house for dinner and appointed the first Jew to be in a cabinet) a sense of humor (he had a great one) a moderate social worker (he was the first to design parks for kids )Ive had many jobs so know people from all walks of life (he was police comm.a rancher,assemblyman,asst.sec.of navy,war hero,governor,vice president and president) people soon know I am a big family man…seven kids etc(he had 6 children) they soon find out I am against baby killing (he was against abortion) etc etc…so a tee shirt can help to advertise a message if the person wearing it is a good rep for the message…as the Founder of our RCC church declared…'they will know you…"…Nino
