Evangelizing Cultic religions

Hello, My friend is in some Punjabi religion, He says that all of his family is of this religion and its seems to be and off branch of Sikhism. He says its super-secret and he won’t tell the name to anyone. Today he asked me some questions on Christianity and I asked him some on his religion. The thing is I could answer every question with ease and He couldn’t really comprehend anything, and doesn’t even question his religion, at all. These are the questions that came up that stumped him.

What are the origins of your beliefs?

Is your god eternal?

Did your god become incarnate, was a man turned god, or is he invisible and never appeared on earth?

He couldn’t answer these pretty simple questions, so he asked me: what are your thoughts on other religions? do you think there all wrong? So I proceeded to tell him yes, Christianity is the only true religion. I told him to be assured of your salvation you must be a Christian, you must accept the Christ as your lord and savior and live your life to his word and endure till the end.( Basically grace through faith for good works) He told me that I was being offensive to him for saying this. I said I would rather tell you the truth than to lie to you and tell you your in the true religion of god.

What do I DO? he told me he doesn’t want to talk about religion anymore because he believed I don’t understand his religion because I don’t speak Punjabi, what do I say? His mind is closed, I encouraged him to find the answer to my questions and seek for truth, but he is set on this being the truth without even knowing if his god’s eternal or the origins of his beliefs, How do I open this mans heart to the Truth of Jesus Christ? He’s a good friend and I don’t want to hurt his feelings but since there is apparently only half a million people in his religion and he doesn’t know the origins I have assumed it to be a recent cult, he won’t tell me the name and he says that his god won’t show the world there religion till their ready but that god is a loving god and loves all people, this is contradicting I say but he doesn’t get it, How do I evangelize and open the mind and heart of a man that is so stuck on a cult that he barely has knowledge about?
 
Can you tell something specific about his religion? I mean, can you find out the name of the sect. Because, if he does not know about his religion, you can try to find out something about it in order to better communicate with him.

I find this ironic, but there a couple of Catholic guys I know who know nothing about their own religion or what the bible says. People who are apparently deeply religious, regularly attending mass, prayer meetings, etc, but don’t know, say, the story of Jonah.
 
I wise person (a Catholic priest) once told me that all the world religions have a piece of His light and truth in them.
Christianity… Catholic Christianity is the only one that has the light entirely.
Jesus is the light.

He then quoted John 1; 1-10 in explanation… most especially John 1:10

1 In the beginning* was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 * All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be
4 through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race;
5 * the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 * A man named John was sent from God.
7 He came for testimony,* to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.
8 He was not the light, but came to testify to the light.
9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world came to be through him, but the world did not know him.

other religions do not know him, but they see a piece of him, and it is good.
One of the great proofs of this fact is the universal teaching of all the great religions of ‘the Golden Rule’ ~ treat others as you wish to be treated.

He doesn’t want me to know it, its apparently a secret for the believers or something, or I wouldn’t understand it, I told him that sounds extremely like a cult and to do his research, but he’s so sold on it, that its hard to show him his errors. Also, He won’t even tell me the name of the religion so I can’t actually look into it.
 
It sounds like he is not a friend but at best only a distant acquaintance.
I’d just stay away from unnecessary contact with him.
Don’t avoid him, but do let your actions and behavior speak for your faith.

We are actually really good friends lol. I do try and let my actions speak.

NEWS! MY OTHER FRIEND JUST CONFIRMED HE WORSHIPS A MAN WHO’S PICTURE IS IN BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH. so THIS means that his religion was founded after photography. If ANYONE knows of any religions tied to sikhism from the last 100 years let me know, as I WANT to debunk this for him so and show him the truth :), and knowing his religion will help.
 
Bahá’í ? Their main temple is in New Deli, but there are many others worldwide including here in Chicago.

Well he just told me that his religion believes that his great great grandfather was god incarnate, he says theres 500,000 people that are this religion in the world, he wont tell me the name of his great great grandfather or the religion though. So I already Know it can’t be Bahai( there’s no god incarnate but a prophet in that religion i believe, also there is liek 5-6 million people following it.)

I think it’s kinda like a protestant for sikhism. Usually cult like this are pretty hard to find info on because of the language barrier and small number of follower.

And he said to them, 'Go out to the whole world; proclaim the gospel to all creation.

You can say to him that the Catholic are for all creation, including the latin-speaker, italian-speaker, english-speaker, etc. And “our” Father loved the world so much, He gave us his only Son.

For this is how God loved the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

Does your friend wear a turban? If he does not, then it is some esoteric off shoot of sikhism. Also, is your friend a Punjabi or Sindhi?

He is supposed to wear a turban but he himself stopped, and he’s Punjabi.
