Evangelizing In Town

There are regular evangelisers in town usually jehovah witnesses and some protestants. They usually have a BIG sign and are handing out religious pamphlets.

In our Catholic Church only 10% of Catholics turn up regularly so there is already a potentially rich harvest.

People fall away from church not just Catholics but other Christian faiths, the thing that still connects them is their Baptism. Are there any formal Catholic tracts/posters/flyers that can be purchased. Would this be a good idea?

Could say something like this:

Are you Christian?

Do you believe in baptism in name of the father son and Holy Spirit?

Do you believe Jesus Is God and the Trinity (Jesus is three persons in one … the father the son and Holy Spirit).

Did you interpret this from the bible yourself? (The answer to this one is invariably No! the church also teaches us many other biblical truths inspired and revealed by the Holy Spirit).

If you are already baptised you were guided to the start of gods plan for you, the church is there to guide us further along his plan for us.

I think one of the best ways to evangelize people is to live and be an example to them. I can only speculate but I don’t think a lot of people are converted by someone they met holding a sign on the street corner. Of course there are resources that you could make easy. I am a convert and the reason why I came into the church is because of my roommates who were Catholic, they went every Sunday. I started asking questions and they got rid of the misconceptions I had about the Church. But if you are living a good Catholic like you are already evangelizing to the people around you. Especially if you are really happy and people see that joy and wonder where you get that joy from, and then they will realize it is from you Catholic faith. St Francis walked in town with one of the other friars just wearing their habits, and didn’t talk much to people. But everyone knew they were living a holy life. I think what would be good though is if you make some sort of pamphlets or find some online about the misconceptions of the Church.

Pamphlets are a great way to reach people. I’ve done it before. Go where the spirit leads you. Pray to God, He’ll help. You’ll know. Here is one source.

Yes, our good example is needed, but how many people are unaware of the Church because the media ignores it or its teachings? Or distorts them? I assure you, there are many people who are confused - who are looking for the truth. Jesus sent out His disciples and so he sends us. No, this is not the only way to evangelize but it is valid. When God gave me the time, I would pass them out – human being to human being. If anyone said, “No.” or indicated they didn’t want it, I smiled and kept walking. I would just offer them with no intent to force them on anyone. There are a number to choose from.

Be careful of other sources. Make sure the text is Catholic. I even offered them to the homeless.
