even our funerals are not good enough for lutherans

I’m sorry, but it just annoys me, how some Lutherans can be so righteous, instead of admitting they simply don’t understand our faith, they must cut it down and even cut down our funerals, argh, have they nothing better to do than critize the Catholic faith?
Really, are some people of other faiths so sure of their own salvation that they have so much time on their hands to sit and pass judgement? It simply amazes me…sorry for the rant :o
 
worry not. I will see the link and I will answer them, if I can. I dislike the way some Protestants try to discredit Catholic as well. Let God judges, not human. We are one in Christ.

The Lutheran Church today contradicts themselves so much. Why do you think there are different Synods with in the Lutheran Church which one can not take communion at the other.

Furthermore each reject Mary’s special place when their found Martin Luther wrote and professed the importance of the Rosary.

I’ve watched the lutherquest website for quite some time and even invited them to come and voice their opinions at Catholic.com but of course, they might just have someone show them the error in their thinking and that would be way too much for them.

I am just ill of the fact that these are ministers on lutherquest spreading lies to their flock.

it really puts a bur in my side :mad:

Wow, talk about harsh, I’m just flabbergasted, wow, I must be very naieve or something, I never had any idea that Catholics were hated so much 😦
 
I just read that thread, and I’m stunned too. I expect this kind of rhetoric from so-called “Christians” (I really hate the term so-called, but I use it in this context only) but I always thought the Lutherans were reasonable people who just weren’t lucky enough to be born Catholic. Two of my best friends are Lutheran! I’ve never been to a service, but my impression was that it’s very much like a Mass. Guess not! One person on that board was particularlly vitriolic. She said Lutheran is the one true religion and that she was raised to believe they were better than anyone else and we’re on the road to hell. Holy Cow! Deb

Well gee whiz I just sauntered over and thought wouldn’t it be nice to have a lovely conversation with my Lutheran brothers and sisters and they told me they would squash Catholics like me like a bug.I don’t think ecumenicalism is one of their talents 😃

I’ve been kicked off the board over and over, I know it is pointless in speaking to them, they are clearly, ever so blind, but the thing that gets me is the lutheran pastors actually going and posting and teaching their flock that way, I do know a few good men who are Lutheran pastors and they would Never ever speak ill toward a different christian faith but you know you always get those few who will lead their flock down the road and then you wonder why the world is the way it is :confused:

I just get irritated because it is not fair to the average non Catholic christian who would like to get to know about the Catholic church the “real Catholic church” they stumble along lutherquest and they are told this bunch of “lies” at lutherquest and now they think Catholics are the anti christ :confused: That is where I get angry, lutherquest gives all good Lutherans a Bad name, too bad the good Lutherans didn’t give their brothers in Christ a good talking to and tell them to Behave 👍

Well, the truth is it began with us. St. Teresa of Avila made no secret of her feeling that Lutherans should be squished like a bug. What goes around comes around, I guess. 😃

If non-Catholic christians are going to non-Catholic sites for information on Catholicism… they have a bigger problem then being told a bunch of lies…

That said, I know what you mean. I’m sure this board would never put up with this kind of discussion. It’s too bad other boards do not have the same sense of decency.
 
Well, right now Lutherquest is carrying on a discussion about how bad our homilies are. I told them I could not agree more- after all on Epiphany our priest gave a homily on the state and society within the feral cat population. 😃 He likened it to the Lost Tribes of Israel. Sigh. On the other hand, I told the Lutherans, why are they moaning over our sad homilies? Since Luther, they wouldn’t listen to a brillaint homily, much less a bad one. Pure hypocrisy for them to be crying we have no brilliant homilies.
Then one e-mailed me and told me something shocking- they have THREE creeds they follow. I don’t know why I was shocked. I guess they can’t get enough different gods, creeds and religions. I’m sure I don’t know.
 
well I have to admit, I was brought up a Lutheran but am now becoming a catholic:0) My family was not at all happy with me marrying into a catholic family and my father said some pretty harsh things to my husband at one time. Things like…You pray to Mary so you are going to hell…I mean come on :mad: Of course it made my husband upset and me also! But on the other hand he then realized his ways and appologized to him. He now realizes that we are not going to hell, or bad people, or anthing like that! He is very considerit and open minded about us now and knows that I am very happy where I am in my faith! 😃 I just wish more people would open their hearts as well as their minds to the many religions that are out their ( just as my father has done). After all, we who believe in God’s love and that he died for us, are all brothers and sisters in Christ, no matter where society so called puts us. HE even says, We should love each other as we love ourselves! :amen:

I’m new to the Catholic forum here, been lurking awhile, so decided it was time to come out! 👋 I’m kind of “looking around”. I was raised Protestant, but went to Catholic churches a bit growing up. Of course, I don’t remember much being a kid. I think I’ve been to about every denomination out there, except Lutheran.

Wow, I can’t believe this is the posting that made me finally announce myself. I went to the link provided and was shocked! :eek:

I don’t remember sitting in any denomination hearing Catholics blasted, but I do recall every denomination I was in did seem to think they were the only ones who “had it all together”.

I have learned so much on this forum, thank you!! 🙂 It has been a real education to open myself up for learning what Catholicism is all about. Someone on another board suggested a poster do the Catholic Home Study & so I went there too. I’m now doing the “We believe” series. I’m amazed as I read and study and find myself thinking “yup, I agree completely! I understand that!” and I’m not even Catholic (yet!) Although, I confess I’ve been going to Mass lately…and liking it! :yup:

After reading this Lutheran trash (I apologize, but I don’t know anything nicer to call it), I was just appalled at all the name-calling and insults. Aren’t we supposed to love our neighbors? Gee, I remember reading a survey recently about “Are we Catholics too hard on Protestants here?” I originally thought, YES! But after reading this Lutheran forum, I have to say NO!

Ok, so please don’t bite! 😃 I’m new here! I promise I’m one of the open-minded ones. I’m just searching for the truth.

I’m having a good time on lutherquest. We just discussed nicely the three creeds. There is only one big mouth over there and I suspect she is not actually Lutheran for the others who are e-mailing me and telling me to not mind her are actually very nice.
 
Never mind, I was wrong. The people on Lutherquest hate Catholics. Sigh. Just more of the same old same old stuff. Quite disappointing.
 
The people on LutherQuest are not representative of Lutherans in general. They are far, far right wing Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod members who want to reclaim the church of C. F. W. Walther, who was first president of the synod in the mid 1800s. In some LCMS circles they are knownas S. O. B.s–super orthodox brethren 😃
