In his case it would be Petrine Privilege, he was/is married to an Anglican. While Pauline privilege might be faster, I doubt that in this case Petrine would be faster than the annulment.If the person has never been baptized a Pauline or Petrine Privilege may be quicker and easier that a full up investigation for a decree of nullity. These dissolve a non-sacramental marriage; so are not an annulment. Is this what your priest was thinking of?
But no, the priest never suggested having the marriage dissolved, he said to me “But he’s divorce and not baptized, why is he bothering with this?” He was surprised when I said the marriage was considered valid until proven otherwise.
