I have a question about non-shiners sponsored events hosted at shiners locations. I am interested in attending a dance at a Shiner’s Center hosted by the local dance club, but I am hesitant to attend. Let me know if it is fine to attend or not.

I presume you typo’ed and mean Shriners? If they’ve opened it to the public, go for it. Otherwise, I believe you have to have a member invite you.

If the dance is open to the public, you can go. Joining the Shriners is not okay with the Church’ if you go and they try to recruit you, thank them for their interest, then leave and don’t go back.

Go and have a good time. You’re not joining them, so it’s okay.

It is against Freemason principles to recruit, hence their slogan “To Be One, Ask One”

That, and you have to be a Master Mason before you can join the Shriners . . .

As far as going to a non-Shriner event in their building, it’s just a building.

As far as their own events . . . my very Catholic daughter speaks at their things about once or twice a year, including their Clown convention a couple of weeks ago.

These are the folks that gave her a normal live (107 degree spinal curvature).

She is disappointed, though, that her rods don’t set off metal detectors 🙂
