Facebook is used to exchange social niceties, birthday greetings etc.and much, much more. It is used by the liberals to promote their causes…abortion, euthanasia, gay culture and we invariably find that those on the receiving end of this are our very own kids and their peer groups. I have a moral obligation to combat such propaganda by publishing material which expresses the Catholic point of view! It most certainly does not make me popular but then Jesus wasn’t exactly popular either! Liberals detest being challenged by upstarts like me! Perhaps those of you who lack a little courage could join me and others like me and spread the message of Jesus …God Bless

I agree with you Tarsus Paddy; we need to say what we think in the conversations we are in. Besides, our opinions are formed by our Catholic faith, and we should be willing to say so

I am very much a Right-Wing Conservative (with Libertarian leanings) and I post a lot of Pro-Life material on Facebook as well as other stuff about other hot-button issues like anti-gun control, anti-free birth control, anti-gay marriage and other topics that annoy my liberal friends. I have publicly pledged that I will never de-friend someone over political or religious differences, though I have had some people de-friend me (which shows how much of a “friend” they were to begin with).

The thing is, I have pretty much given up using religious arguments to make my case because the people I am appealing to tend not to be persuaded by religion or argue things like “well, some people don’t consider that to be a sin.”

I will continue to do it if for no other reason than to “seed plant” and maybe win someone over.

I generally do not post pro-life or any other controversial issues on Facebook. If a friend posts something and a conversation/debate starts, I might join in. I have had a few conversations on Facebook recently, one regarding pro-life vs. pro-choice, and other regarding the legalization of marijuana.

Sometimes I post Pro-life aricles on Facebook, but receive little if any response or likes.
It seems all anyone cares or likes are cute animal stories, or what they are having for dinner.
How can more important topics be discussed or shared with friends and family on Facebook or other media?

I hate just talking trivia, when so many important things never get discussed.
Ultimately, I can’t say whether this is something you should do or not…but the level of response should tell you something.

I have found that arguing with people on facebook in my experience is a waste of time, because people just aren’t open to adopting new ideas. It’s too easy to fight on-line, for one, and two, a person’s first instinct on there seems to be defend even if it’s costly.

My time is better spent elsewhere on line.
