Hi, I have a question but I’ll start with the short story leading up to the question. I was talking to a friend about Mary’s virginity and I was having trouble showing that she was always a virgin. After talking about it for a while I ended with, “this is what the Church teaches” and I added some things as to why, like the use of the wrod “brother,” and “sister,” and all that stuff. After that she asked me “why is it so important that she was a virgin anyway?” I couldn’t give an answer, why? Because I myself don’t know, not that I don’t think it’s true or that it is important, I just don’t know why. I told her I’d get back to her when I figured out, that’s where you all come in
. This brings me to my obvious question, why is it important that Mary remained a virgin? I know it’s silly, but I’d like a tangible answer if there is one. Also, I’m having trouble proving the “brethren” of the Lord are not is blood brothers and sisters. Could anyone help me with this too? Thanks in advance!

Zach
