Every Catholic should attend a Tent Revival meeting once in their life.

I know what these tent revival are all about and I have no interest. It has nothing to do with “hard Hearts” or finding lost sheep. The last place I would go to find lost sheep would be at a tent revival.

I go where I get joy and spirituality and that is at Catholic Mass.

Don’t be putting guilt trips on people if they feel the way they do. It is their free will to worship how they like. If you all want to go then do it and leave the rest of us who prefer less fire and brimstone at peace.

I guess I can understand you views, you have just come sliding into home safe, you don’t want to go back out there but I am at least an 80th generation Catholic and I see it as my sworn duty to go out and find lost sheep. Sometimes that means you have to understand what is keeping them lost.

Anyway, didn’t mean to get your rosary all knotted up.

Im not into all that craziness—but I dont think they are any less christian then anyone else. They just show it differently is all.I was raised episcopalian so Im a bit more reserved like catholics. It is what Im used to:shrug:

I sort of remember somebody throwing church law in the face of our Lord too. Guess I’m in good company.

Feelings fade. I’ve seen people who felt “saved” at the Revival become very confused, depressed, and disheartened when that “feeling” didn’t stay with them or when times became tough. Much of this Evangelical “tent revival” mentality is also tied up in the Health and Wealth Gospel.

Feelings do fade… I know because the same thing happpened to me but that was because I didn’t understand the process of sanctification. A deep transformation of the inner man needs to happen in the process of sanctification. I celebrated the fact that my sins were forgiven and I was a new creature but I did not put off the practices of the old man (habitual ways of seeing, thinking, feeling and acting) and put on my new self who was being renewed (Colossians 3:3-15).

Many people don’t understand that they have to be renewed in the spirit of their minds (Ephseians 4:26). Renewed minds have to be trained to take authority over the emotions of our hearts so that choices to act are not directed by emotion but by the mind of Christ in us. Paul also says that we “die daily” (1 Corinthians 15:31) as we reckon ourselves dead to sin and present ourselves as alive to Christ as instruments of righteousness (Romans 6:11-14)

“By one offering He had perfected for all time those who are (being) sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:14). This passage speaks of a
process.

In Hebrews 12:14 Christians are told to “pursue peace with all men, and that sactifiacation without which no one will see the Lord.” We are commanded to “see to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no bitteness springing up causes trouble and by it many become defiled.” (Hebrews 12:15).

We are told to do as Paul did,“I press on in order that I many lay hold of that for which I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus .” (Phillipians 3:12). We are to"grow in respect to salvation." (1 Peter 2:2) and work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

Those were Jewish law though! We are Catholics, and under grace as the Church of Christ we sometimes make Church law as well! If we’re wrong to do that then what else are we wrong about?? The reason for not praying with heretics is so as not to lend credence or even the appearance thereof to their heresies. They cut themselves off from Christ’s Church, they know where it is when they decide to repent! The last thingh the Catholic Church needs is innovations like altar calls and tent revivals… we need to cling to tradition! The Orthodox seem to be doing a wonderful job of it, what is our problem???

Oooooooo, what was I next in line for? Don’t take me off just yet!
