Agree with what you said but the bold irked me a bit. Your first statement assumes guys are emotionless and do not experience an emotional bond with a woman. The fact of the matter is science has shown that claim to be absolutely false.
My first statement assumes no such thing. You assumed I assume that guys are emotionless and don’t experience a bond with a woman because I didn’t explicitly say that men are human beings with emotions who experience emotional bonds with women. The only reason I spoke from the perspective of a former teenage girl is because I used to be a teenage girl, and I was never a teenage boy. I assume teenage boys think and feel, but I can’t speak with any authority about their experiences so I don’t.
I also wonder if those crushes you talk about are really “selfless love” or just a shot of endorphins released by your brain to someone you are attracted to. Recent studies have show that “romantic love” can be an addiction.
My crushes were just infatuations. I never even dated these guys. I was an unattractive teenager and nobody wanted to date me. I was just pointing out how naive someone can be at that age.
It may well be fair to charge guys with “only wanting one thing” (though I don’t think so) but is using a guy to satisfy your chemical craving for a romance really any different? What if you no longer feel that chemical attraction for your husband and start feeling it for another guy?
Again, I didn’t say that there aren’t women who use men. I’ve tried to be fair. I’ve never dated as a man though, so I can’t tell horror stories from personal experience on that front. Certainly I’d like to be married some day, and I avoid using other people at all costs. If you no longer feel attraction to your husband and you feel it for someone else, you should stay away from the someone else and work on your relationship with your husband. Love isn’t just a feeling, it’s a choice for both sexes. You have to keep choosing to love your spouse no matter how you feel on any given day.

It seems like you’re a little mad at women right now, and I’m sorry if someone of my sex used you to satisfy their chemical craving for love or hurt you in some other way. I’ve had my heart broken too, but I try to be fair to guys in general. Only a few guys have hurt me, not half of the human race. And all of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. :sad_yes:

He’s not into you that is all there is to it. Guys don’t like to feel like the bad guy for turning you down or rejecting someone so often they will say they’re not ready for a relationship sometimes it’s true sometimes it’s not. A guy who is interested will make the effort and pursue you that’s how you know they are into you. If they are busy or you end up always going out around their schedule something isn’t right.

How to get over it. It’s hard I can tell you because pretty much every guy I ever liked isn’t interested. I’ve had to learn to get over it fast. There were a few instances where I even almost loved the guy and he broke up with me or tried to turn abusive. You just have to learn to accept that sometimes those you like won’t like you the same way. Maybe praying would help you that’s all I can really suggest. Don’t dwell on him. Let him go it’s probably better in the long run you want someone who want’s you as much as you want them. If that’s not the case you’ll only bring yourself more pain.

Prayers,

Your first statement did imply it. You said you didn’t think the girls that influenced the boys into having sex were doing it to use them. In your earlier post you claimed that boys DO that to girls though. In a sense you have cast men as shallow (the “they only want 1 thing” attitude) but girls interested in a deep connection. I subsequently challenged that the deep connection you referred to may not be so deep after all. Maybe you don’t find the “shallow men but not shallow women” argument offensive but it really is.

My reference to romance being addicting was meant to underscore that, while men and women may use each other in a different way, neither is really the “more noble half” of the species. I question people when they imply that women are the more noble ones because they want romance. These days that attitude has given women the impression they are to be worshiped (false gods) in a relationship and that the entire relationship is about them. Ego trip much? You may not have dated as a man but if your best girlfriend was treating a guy like garbage would you be equally compelled to tell her off as you would if a guy was treating her like garbage?

Lastly, no one has really hurt me at all. I have seen vicious women tare my friends apart though. They behave as if the man only exists to endlessly worship them and if he dare challenge the queen on anything its off with his head. In general though that is the attitude society supports and encourages these days. I was reading a blog by a woman and she sums it up quite nicely. If you notice the Disney movies like Cinderella and Snow White, the princes didn’t even have names let alone character development. They were just tools for female fantasy (hmm sounds familar). It sends the message to young girls that they should expect a prince that does all sorts of wild things for them and gives them a lavish lifestyle. Yet all that is OK but guys get called shallow for being mesmerized by someone like Megan Fox or Scarlet Johanson (both are fakes IMO eww). Do you see my point though? Guys are judged as shallow just for looking but its OK for girls to expect material treatment from guy like a palace and princess treatment. If he all he has is a good heart to give her and modest pay? God help him!

I won’t even get into the girls who use sex to manipulate guys…that is another story.

No it didn’t. I said, “some men do this …] not all teenage girls do that”. I never said men don’t have sex for love or that there isn’t such a thing as a teenage girl who would use a teenage boy. You continually make assumptions about what I mean based on what I don’t say. Stop it.

Yes, I would tell off a girl who was mistreating a man, but all of my female friends behave themselves and so do their boyfriends. I’m friends with prudent people.

Neither sex has a monopoly on sin, and I never said women are the more noble sex.
Lastly, no one has really hurt me at all.
No one is as angry as you are without having been hurt. It’s not possible.

Your sexism is only going to hurt you in the end, dude.

How do I come off as angry? All I was saying was that the societal attitude that man = bad and women = good is not true. I just felt that tone was present in some of your posts. As you said, neither has a monopoly on sin.

How is what I said sexist? I never said ALL women do x, y, and z. Nor did I say I hate women. What I hate is double standards. Yes, I know some benefit men too and I am against those as well! I was just giving examples, to challenge the man = out of control lascivious animal and woman = benevolent love goddess theme, of what some of the guys in my life have experienced. I presume it is no different than what you were saying but I never called you sexist.

It’s not hard to see how what you wrote is sexist. Try reading it while pretending that you think of women as individuals and not as unreasonable, manipulative harridans. Especially read the nonsense about women wanting to be treated like Disney princesses. If I were as nasty about men as you are about women, you’d go ballistic. But it’s a free country. Think what you like. Just remember to tone it down on your next date. 🤷

I could say the very same about what you wrote several posts ago as well lol! The OP never said anything about the guy using her. When I challenged chantal25 about the stereotype in her post you were totally dismissive of the issue I raised.

I also did not say ALL women ARE Disney princesses. I raised issue with the overall societal portrayal of men and women. I said society paints men as the bad guys and women as the good ones. You personally may not do that but the societal portrayal of such does influence our views. Society is what reinforces stereotypes even when they are blatantly untrue. Some of these efforts to reinforce the stereotypes actually work and that results in both genders loosing out. That being said neither should be holding their own in a different light than the other. That was my point. If you agree then that’s great. If not that’s fine too lol.

As far as dating goes, I’m retired lol. There are a great number of issues I wish to tackle in this world to make it a better place for others. I do not want to drag a family through that. God doesn’t call everyone to marriage or priesthood.

Frankly, I for one found the Disney /Princess blurb rather interesting. I also liked the blog about ‘Husband Bashing.’

For a man to simply challenge a negative stereotype about the male gender, it simply does not equate to female hating or being ‘sexist.’ Indeed, it rather shows a sensitivity to gender issues.

However Methinks we digress from the OP’s topic.

I am curious…why do the friends say that he is still interested in her…

Often our friends see what we do not.

Hmmmmmmm…

And yes… Sometimes a good guy** is** worth waiting for…

Unless he categroically stated he is not interested. I find it rather noble of him to say that he needed time to get over his 3 yr girlfirend. It would *worry *me if he didn’t say that. It shows insight and honesty.

Give the guy a break.

It is up to her. It is her choice.

Dude, I never said a guy was using her. I said that Chantal25 was talking about guys who use women, not about all guys. And it’s really not that uncommon for men to use women for sex in our society. A lot of guys would even admit that. It wasn’t a stereotype. It was a possibility.

Honestly, you are a total nightmare. Stop filling in stuff I said with stuff I didn’t say. Men really don’t have it harder than women. 1 in 3 women is abused by their romantic partner and 1 in 6 women have been raped for example. I feel sorry for good guys who are mistreated, but women are a lot more vulnerable to violence and poverty than guys are, so excuse us if we try to warn each other to guard our hearts.

P.S. Women want to be treated like they are special because they want to be loved. Wanting to be loved does not equal using. Who doesn’t want to be loved? Sheesh. (And now you’re probably going to accuse me of sexism again because I didn’t explicitly say that men are human beings who want to be loved too.)

I can see why you don’t want to marry. She’d probably want you to love and cherish her. What an ego trip a Christian marriage would be for her! That would never do.

Yeah, this wasn’t sexist at all: “They behave as if the man only exists to endlessly worship them and if he dare challenge the queen on anything its off with his head.” He was just challenging a negative stereotype by stating a negative stereotype about women as a fact. 🤷 I don’t know why I couldn’t see it before. Thanks.

That’s like the pot calling the kettle black. From what can be seen – you – SilentFactor80 and others here – do quite some bashing of your own. Heck – you’ve got one thread dedicated to bashing all those “misbehaving” women.

Hi guys…

thanks again.

I think I’m gonna stay out of the whole women vs men thing that this seems to have turned into  lol.

Just to add my 2 cents tho…I’ve NEVER dated a jerk. Never 🙂 I’ve only had 2 serious boyfriends, and a few guys I’ve dated regularly…but lucky for me they’ve all been great, good-heated guys who I would considered gentlemen. I’ve never felt used by a man, and I would never allow myself to be used.

No, my exes weren’t perfect - obviously, or they wouldn’t be exes…but you know what, I wasn’t perfect either. And I like to think that even though things didn’t work out, we left eachother’s lives better, or at least taught eachother lessons.

One thing I would never accept in a boyfriend is complaint about an ex. I just don’t think its tasteful. And as a rule I refrain from bashing exes in front of my current bf. My way of thinking: If he can bash her (his ex)…then he’ll probably have no problem bashing me if/when things fail to work with us.

Back to my original question…

Maybe I should have left out the details in my op…but my ONLY question was how to get over a guy. Yeah yeah, maybe he likes me…maybe he’s hiding it…maybe he’s being noble…maybe he just isn’t that into me. I think analyzing a situation too much can be a bat thing. I have accepted the situation for how it is, and if the situation changes in the future, I’ll accept it in a new way. Right now, I JUST need advice on moving past a guy who for WHATEVER reason (reason being a moot point!) isn’t going to be with me right now.

Understand…? :o

Thanks again…this is a pretty interesting convo 😉

Indeed? I simply must assert that,IMHO, is quite an erroneous post and an uncharitable mischaracterization.

I need not say more.

Back to the original topic for *me. *

I do not wish to have the OP’s thread closed for going off topic.

Well. I always went to movies to keep my mind off things when I was in a break up. Did a lot of driving while playing music too!

Learned one thing tho. Never have a couples ‘Favorite song.’ It forever kills the song for you. 😉

I never said men have it harder!! I said women use men in different way than men use women but that women’s behavior is no more noble than men’s. You said neither has a monopoly on sin but don’t seem to believe women can and do behave just as badly as some men. Of coarse some men use women. I am not arguing that at all. I am just saying women do it too but ya’ll aren’t quick to call your own out on it like men are.

Men have a need for respect like women do for love. I am not opposed to cherishing a woman (a gift from God) but if she thinks she doesn’t have to contribute anything in return then there is no relationship. THAT was my point in the past posts. It really bugs me when some women feel the need to point out every male flaw while still expecting special treatment without making any sacrifice of her own. Many women think that just by being women and agreeing to be in a relationship with a guy exclusively that’s all that is required of her.

Also your statistics are only half the story. Since domestic violence against men is never reported we don’t know how bad it really is. Women may not always use fists to fight but do engage in relational aggression which is psychological abuse. (Mean Girls anyone?) Also when it comes to poverty men are 90% of the adult victims because we can’t get pregnant, go on welfare, get WICS benefits, or other governmental support. Society just sends men to prison.

Our thread is not about bashing. It is about raising awareness about social justice for men. It is also about demanding an answer as to why women don’t face the same scrutiny men do in the media and legal system. Pretending something isn’t a problem when it is can get a lot of people hurt. Of coarse anyone that takes a stand for fair treatment (like African Americans did) is bound to find dismissive people because few people like the idea of having their preconceived notions / stereotypes challenged. I guess men just aren’t worthy of equal respect in your book.

Glad the OP is fair and just. There is no magic bullet but finding a hobby, joining a community service group, or prayer group is helpful. Maybe try CatholicMatch to see what kind of people you find. Even if you don’t meet anyone it gets your mind off of him.

Oh yea – “of course that what it’s about”. I’m thinking the “radical” feminists have said the same type of “thing”. The end result – is the same – turning the sexes against one another.

Just enjoy being single while you are, pray, and keep in mind that God wants what is best for us. God desires our happiness.

Take care,

I’m so done talking to you. I’ve repeatedly said that women are just as capable of wrong-doing as men. The less you listen, the less convincing you are because, yet again, you responded to what you assumed I think. Feel free not to write to me ever again. All you do is repeatedly prove that you resent women and are sexist.

As for the men in prison, news flash: they committed crimes. For the most part, they deserve to be there.
