It makes one cautious before speaking about deamons. Even without getting to do anything wrong per se, there is a spectrum of possibilities to consider as in my case I learnt watching hipnosis .
 
What sickens me about this story is that children and family “services” took these kids away from their mother. It all seemed so racist. I cannot imagine the government removing children from a white family in this situation.
 
Talk to most anyone that was involved in paganism or occolt practices for extended periods of time you’ll hear plenty of accounts of possession. That and Church teaching should be more than enough, it’s not something to play around with. I’ve witnessed people who suffered from possession first hand and been negatively impacted by it. It’s not something that should be filmed or viewed for that matter and would do far more harm than good. If you haven’t had experience with it consider yourself lucky, stay away and pray for those that have.

What does everyone think about this woman who was on Dr Phil who’s family believes she was possessed?
The jaw cracking bit is a bit disturbing and confronting😮

Is she/was she ever possessed or have her family negatively conditioned this “behaviour” due to her growing up in a family that probably strongly is Christian and strongly believes in demons (without much discrimination)?

If she’s not possessed,she’s a good actress!

I believe the better word these days is “preternatural” as “supernatural” usually suggests:
(a) divine agency in Catholicism;
(b) it denies the possibility that it is a “gift” inhering in the person themself rather than a daemon.

The ‘otherworldly’ expressions seen on the face and movements of the body gives one the same experience. Images you wish you hadn’t seen that can stay with you for a while. Definitely etcha-sketch moments.

It’s factual, but tongue-in-cheek at the same time. One of the two guys doing the program is a skeptic and is quite mocking, so the show is not too serious, in some ways. But is in other ways.

Father Gary Thomas, a well known American exorcist, is also in the program.

Actually, there is video of some exorcisms. In Italy, there are some, I’ve recently seen. But it’s not done much. Exorcism is not a spectacle and privacy for the person is most appropriate.

The nonbeliever would rarely if ever see anything preternatural. Levitation happens, for example, in very few cases of exorcism.
 
I’ve read a few books about exorcism. It seems to me that the priests see one or two signs they are supposed to look for, then they just go along with it. It doesn’t seem to be rigorous when they are discerning whether or not the possession is there.
 
I would not say that. Father Gary Thomas Father Amorth, for example, our quite meticulous about doing their due diligence and approaching the person’s complaint with that of skepticism and working from there. All other possible explanations would have been ruled out before moving on to considering possession.

But there are some flags that can go up early in an interviewing session. That is true enough.
