Evil, as humans can we conquer it or just suvive it?

As mere humans are we able to conquer evil or do we just survive through it until the our death or the end of times when God will destroy it?

We can conquer it, but only through the grace of God. However, that doesn’t mean we will never come to a point in our lives when we cannot/will not be tempted. The temptations merely change as we do. Considering we live in a sin-soaked world, we can’t avoid it, but we can overcome sins, one by one, day by day, which what Jesus meant by “give us this day our daily bread” and “lead us not into temptation” in the great prayer he taught us. Day by day God gives us the grace to live in holiness and to be perfected in his love. As long as we will to cooperate with his grace, we can and will overcome sin.

Christ has conquered evil. We can participate in His saving work or we can reject it for ouselves and participate in evil. We cannot conquer evil but we can conform our lives to Jesus Christ, informing the intellect to know what to do or not do, and shaping the will to embrace this gained knowledge. Thankfully, Jesus has given us all we need to accomplish the task. Praise be to Him for ever and ever.

Well put, Brad. It is indeed Jesus Christ who has conquered evil on behalf of all humans, being himself both human and God.

I usually frame the fight against evil as one of “overcoming” it, through, as noted, its conquering by Christ, and our linking our lives with him.
