What makes you think I don’t apply the same standard to man as to your God? It would be just as wrong for a human being to torture other human beings as it is for God to do it.
Then I find this more intriguing; someone believe that something can be good, evil, right or wrong in absence of a divine Creator. In fact, the same belief you hold of an absolute standard of morality is one of the strongest arguments for God, and for a God who is perfectly good.

I tend to believe “good” and “evil” are created by man, rather than being something outside of man. (such as God).

I see morality as socially constructed. Morality can therefore be whatever it is man wills it to be. But it is more collective than each man deciding for himself. I believe all men are connected via something like a universal consciousness such that as a whole, and throughout eternity, man creates and discovers his own destiny.

God can still exist here. But man is God, and God is man. God is not “other.” He is utterly close to us, so close that his being becomes part of ours. We see how this oneness of God and man occurs in the person of Jesus.

I’m just trying to say that I have a really hard time believing in the existence of moral responsibility, of evil or good actions. Things are what they are. Man is evolving and transforming towards a new state, and all this talk about sin and evil is just too depressing.

If this is what you believe then you should definitely reconsider calling yourself Catholic

Then we are just as much God as Jesus is?

There is no logical basis for moral principles in an amoral universe.

If there’s no such thing out there as God and we are just a bunch of instinct driven animals, then morality shouldn’t exist, at the end, animals don’t need morality.

You are correct. I did resort to a tit for tat.
Sorry.
No apology necessary and I’m sorry myself. I don’t want it to seem like I was calling you out or anything… it’s just that since I’m learning about the faith when I see people disagreeing over parts of it I’m looking for well thought answers, ya know?
