I just became aware of a beautiful scent coming from clothes drying in the house, the sun not being strong enough to dry things outside.

I’m wondering if you have a sight, a smell, a sound, a taste or feel of anything that you really like at this time of the year?

Maybe from church, maybe from home, maybe today or from way back in your time. Any memory you like to revisit.

Be as poetic as you wish 😊

I love the smell of woodsmoke coming from someone’s chimney. When I was a child, you used to be allowed to burn leaves to get rid of them. Every once in a while I get a whiff of that from somewhere out in the country and I am a child again. 🙂

Also, this time of year, we had mashed rutabagas and potatoes for Thanksgiving and I always loved them with butter and turkey gravy. 😋

We only had turkey once or twice a year, so we were eating it up!! With gravy!

Ahhh. That fresh smell from a newly opened vinyl LP. Those warm sights and smells coming from that nice vacuum tube amplifier, gently warming up the room. That beautiful purplish cast from the mercury vapor rectifiers. The sweet sounds eminating from the speakers.

Don’t hardly get better on a nice autumn eve.

That’s a lovely memory thank you.

We used to use something called creosote, a kind of spirit and tar type liquid for preserving timber outside. So fences would be painted with it quite often at this time and that was a strong but pleasant smell. That takes me back to when I was a kid kicking along the pavement and running every so often just because I could.

Everything about fall makes me happy.

I love every aspect of it. The holidays, the leaves changing, the weather cooling off, the colors, the smells of crisp air, apples and pumpkin, smoke from chimneys.

We live in a very picturesque New England town. It’s the kind of town you find on postcards and think about when you learn about pilgrims and Thanksgiving.

I will never, ever move because of that reason. There are no other places on earth where I can experience fall like I do now.

That sounds wonderful. I’ve seen some pictures of New England of course but as you say the smells and sounds are all part of it too.

That must smell good in a warm kitchen too I bet.

Autumn is my favorite time of the year and the cool/cold weather means my wife will be cooking a chicken n sausage gumbo. Life is good. Peace be with all of you (and bragging on my neighbor too, she made a shrimp n okra gumbo last Friday…good stuff)

Don’t leave me hanging and everyone laughing at me…LOL…what is that ? I love these kinds of posts. Hope all are well wherever you call home.

In all honesty I have absolutely no idea whatsoever.

I’m in the UK, I don’t think rutabaga is legal here, whatever it is.

Search on it?

Ok, it’s another word for swede! Who knew.

Just looked at a picture and looks like a turnip…this is funny. Never heard of swede either. I got to get out of the house more, meet new people, see new places. Smiles !

Raking the leaves and jumping in the huge pile. Spiced apple cider. Taking in an abused cat and that cat giving birth to her kittens in our tool shed with me as the midwife. She wouldn’t let them nurse until I’d picked each one up and gotten my scent on it. After being assured that I loved her and her new kittens, she let them nurse and was a devoted mother to them.

Wow, that’s interesting. You must’ve have been the mother’s matriarchal figure. Amazing. Thinking about it she may have sensed your spirituality.
