Deists are not OK with me since they believe God got the ball rolling and that’s it. God has been intervening all the time and even sending the Blessed Virgin.

God bless,
Ed
Interesting Web-page. Thanks for the link.
If your description above is accurate then I can definitely say I am not a “Deist”. I certainly Believe God is around and active with and in His creation. It’s just when people get to wrought up on mechanisms and processes that I get a little frustrated.
I guess I should just take my own advise and not argue about it. 🤷

Okay sorry if I was misunderstanding natural selection. Someone was saying something was random and I thought it was natural selection?
No problem. The random has to do with mutations.
However we can’t just say, “Well that appears random to us but not to God” because the fact is that we see it as random. If we say God does things orderly then we are faced with a contradiction between Who we know God to be and the effects we see from Him that cannot contradict Him.
Really? You might want to re-think that.

I can give you an example of true randomness in nature (radioactive decay). Do you really think that God doesn’t know which atom in a give mass will decay at any given time?

Yes, but according to the theory, we could have turned out to be anything because random mutation means random mutations. Got it?
Well, that basically shows that you don’t understand evolution.

Random mutation is only part of the picture Ed. You forgot the next part - natural selection.
The Catholic Church teaches that whatever happened it was guided infallibly by God’s will. And to my fellow Catholics, are you forgetting about Moses, the prophets, Jesus, Matthew, Mark, etc.? God was intervening all the time!
Yep, that is theology, not science. You can’t test for God because God doesn’t have to play by the rules that His creation does.
Do miracles still happen today? Yes. Look up the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
Yes they do. Funny thing is that if we didn’t have natural law, we wouldn’t be able to tell that they were miracles.

Then you should not worry about him.

I suggest contacting the Vatican and telling them not to worry about atheism. I suggest you tell Pope Benedict to quit mentioning atheism also. I watched a video of a Rally for Reason protest outside of the Creation Museum. Kids were shown telling the viewer that the museum tells lies. Lies are wrong. Then the father of the children was shown, telling viewers, in a grave voice, that this country will go to ruin. Kids were being exposed to the Creation Museum. Obviously, exposing children to man and dinosaurs living together, which is going on in (non-Catholic) Christian schools across the country right now, will send the country into ruin. Rally for Reason is a primarily atheist supported organization. Go to their web site if you don’t believe me.

Ed

Sadly, you are still repeating the same nonsequiter. The Barbarian is repeating, ad nauseum, how the Pope declared common descent is virtually certain. How can he do that if the Church is only about faith and morals?

Nope, random mutation and natural selection alone cannot do the job. That is a fact based on the other areas of reason we still need as mentioned by Pope Benedict.

Science is science but God is God and guides His creation.

Ed

The Vatican isn’t on a witch hunt. You are.

Well, the truth is hard to hear sometimes. The Creation Museum is telling lies.

Heck, how can he comment on science at all since it doesn’t exist?

By the way, the Pope has written that common descent is virtually certain. Or do you not believe what he wrote?

Right, but it is all that science can comment on.
Science is science but God is God and guides His creation.
WHOA! Hold on cowboy! I thought you said science doesn’t exist. Can you at least get you story straight? Does science exist or not?

There are no atheists? How many links to mentions of atheism from Catholic Church officials would you like? Please Tim. Witch hunt? I’m not claiming atheists have black cats or made pacts with the devil or ride brooms. The fact is the New Atheism is working overtime to get as many as possible to disbelieve. They are organized on an international level. It’s their choice to not believe. But, as a Catholic, it is worthwhile to see them in action. Or do you advocate just ignoring them while the Church does not?

Peace,
Ed

There are no atheists?
Did I say that? Your reading comprehension is not particularly impressive Ed.
Please Tim. Witch hunt? I’m not claiming atheists have black cats or made pacts with the devil or ride brooms.
No, you are just claiming that they are destroying God by using a non-existent thing called science. Taught in biology textbooks that you seemingly agree don’t exist. Go figure.
