Some do, some don’t–and you will find equally devout Orthodox on both sides of the issue.

I myself interpret evolution as being the mechanism God used to create things. Remember that several times in the Bible He said that He does not reckon time as mortals do.

But to drag God into the issue is itself a religious believe–something that cannot be quantified by the scientific method.

Trying to prove God scientifically is as useless as trying to prove a Beethoven symphony, Shakespearean sonnet, or Rembrant painting.

Perhaps you should read the “Law of God” also because they do show that Science proves evolution is a false notion. The “Law of God” proves atheisim is also false. It a great read for entire families although it goes into extreme detailed scientic proof and deep theological concepts it is broken down into multiple very small digestible sections. This would only be recommended though, if you are looking for the Orthodox perspective which is what the OP was inquiring about.
