Wasn’t the problem more to do with it being alive and dead, God and not God at the same time rather than the substantiality of the Soul? The Soul as form of the body which together(body and soul) are the substance of the human person was a seperate issue was it not?This from Reginators thread on the soul in Apologetics:

See, I knew my intuition was right… a substance.
