I think that the problem is that there is just enough evolution education to cause missunderstanding and excessive arguement. Many people get the bulk of their understanding of evolution outside of a good educational environment. They are prone to understand in terms of the frameworks established by the extremists on the religous side of the debate or by the anti-religous side in there use of a corrupt notion of evolution to promote thier atheism and/or there life style.
A better education of the theory would help.
