As far as, “Yes, there are Popes that sinned while they are Popes.”so one Pope out of 200+ during the 1500s. Oh please. i don’t think Julius II is on any Saint list. Yes, there are Popes that sinned while they are Popes. The Catholic church never claimed that Popes were going to be impeccable. Op’s implication here is that Popes, (plural) were riding out to battle with with swords drawn ready for action. And all we can cough up is one Pope during the 1500 which was a very turbulant time to begin with. We need to stop judging the past by today’s political standards and veiw events and people from the past in the context of their time.
I would say that that list probably includes pretty much absolutely all of them unless one or more died pretty soon after becoming Pope.
When someone points out something that someone has done that someone else has said did not ever happen, that is just pointing out a fact.
Wasn’t it Pope John Paul II who went around the whole world making public penances/confessions of the “sins” done in the name of the Catholic Church?
Pope John Paul II is one who is on the “Saint” list who seemed to think that it was good and proper to be “honest” about history rather than to “whitewash” history.
