BonnieBj,Earlier this week I was watching Father’s programming and he espoused and was in agreement with evolution of mankind from lower forms of life starting at about 20,000 years ago, and that human beings had their origin in Africa and were black, instead of in the Garden of Eden. I was flabbergasted and disgusted. I will certianly no longer watch his show.
What is the Church’s teaching on this matter?
I just pulled up the episode you refer to and watched it from 12-10-05. Father Groeschel never said he believed we came from lower life forms. He did explain what the Church allows us to believe about evolution. If you watch the show again and listen close, you will see he said nothing bad against Adam and Eve. He did talk about what if’s. You should also learn what a teaching of the Church means in relation to a dogma of the Church - a subject for another thread.
I suggest you subscribe to DishTV and get a PVR. You can record the show and watch it when you like. If you are watching the show live you can pause the show or rewind it and listen to what was said all over again. A PVR unit (same as TIVO) could have saved you from starting this thread. OK, an old VHS machine could have done that too if you were recording it and still find the tapes. (Is DirectTV owned by the Hughes Corp which is owned by the Mormon church?)
Does the sun rotate around the earth or vice versa? Is the earth flat or round? Did the human race come from the same dirt as the animals or did the animals come from the same dirt as the humans? Nothing in Scripture contridicts science and nothing in science that can be proven contridicts Scripture. Non of us were there when God created Adam as Father Groeschel points out. What we know is that God created Adam and Eve and gave them what makes us human.
Simply put, you missunderstood what was said. I had to replay it too as I was trying to understand what he said.

PS. I also emailed Father Groeschel for an answer. I hope he has a chance to respond to your post too. (www.sundaynightlive@ewtn.com)
