Evolution is not an article of faith, but a lot of people believe in it and toss God out of the equation. They think it explains everything.
I don’t know anyone who thinks evolution theory explains everything, and neither do you by the way.
but don’t think the theory of evolution really makes sense that a species could change into another species. Just because there are similarities between living beings, doesn’t make evolution a reasonable theory. Just because evolution supposedly happened very slowly, doesn’t make it more credible.
There is what amounts to proof that species do change into other species and it’s not because of similarities between living beings. The time thing is a necessary part of evolution theory. It not only makes it more credible, it is essential.

The “argument from icredulity” mantra is not valid. Pope Benedict has studied the issue and concluded that we (human beings) are not haphazard mistakes.
I don’t know of any scientist who says we are haphazard mistakes. Could you name one?
The science worshippers believe the following: evolution is a fact, facts are not democratic. We, as Christians, have no choice but to believe them.
There’s that nasty little trick again. No one worships science and you know that. Shame on you for spreading such a lie. And, Christians can believe whatever they want but scientists don’t have that freedom.
This is just the prelude to the Technocracy, a social order built around science and Marxism that spreads propaganda designed to remove all religious belief and superstitions from among the people. It didn’t work in the 1920s and it won’t work today.
Another lie. Bovine effluvium. Evolution theory has nothing whatsoever to do with with that.

Ed

Where exactly does evolutionary theory say that “something” comes from “nothing”?

New species evolve from existing species, among other things.
Hello Barbarian:

again, this is not an example of "something from nothing. It is an example of “something from something else.”

Tor

Who’s “they”?
People who defend evolution. People who know how evolution is supposed to work.

I’ve noticed that people on this post who strongly believe in evolution, do not believe in God.

the worship of science is idolatry.
Absolutely correct. The worship of anything other than God is idolatry.

However, accepting the probability of a scientific theory isn’t “worship”.

It’s the other way around, Christine. I don’t have the answers to such questions in a religious text, so I look to people who research the matter to tell me what they think.

And then I remain aware of the fact that the story might change tomorrow or next week.

Amen to that. It’s like we have to accept evolution - hook, line and sinker without questioning it at all. It’s just a theory! I don’t know the history of when it became mandatory to be taught in public schools; it should be taught as a theory, not the absolute truth.

And you are right, atheists are the ones who really push evolution, (along with a lot of evil agenda). They really don’t want people to believe in God at all.
Science is built around questioning theories. BTW, “Just a Theory” is a very good book, I recommend it to you.

Evolution isn’t pushed, it’s taught, it’s studied, it’s even subjected to falsification. So far, the theory of biologic evolution is incredibly strong and supported by mountains of evidence that is growing daily. But it is not pushed.

Excuse me, but that’s rather insulting.

I accept the probability of the theory of evolution - as Catholics are quite free to do (and as did John Paul the Great of blessed memory).

And I believe very strongly in God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

So there. 👍

“not pushed” You’re joking, right? Have you counted the number of threads here? “mountains of evidence”? I usually see this on atheist and agnostic sites.

You understand that according to Pope Benedict, we (human beings) are not haphazard mistakes?

You add to the growing list of those who have come here to promote evolution. Why? With mountains of evidence, I think people have more than enough information to judge for themselves. But the evidence points to something else. It points to the atheist lobbyist to the United States government. It points to the primarily atheist supported Rally for Reason which was compelled to protest outside the Creation Museum. It points to a Technocratic form of government.

“probability”? Have you seen the other evolution threads here? A common statement is “evolution is a fact.” Sometimes with, “get over it” tacked on.

According to Pope Benedict, human beings are not haphazard mistakes. I won’t just say yes to evolution.

First of all, the term “theory” in science means …

Aw, the heck with it. You already know the answers from the 3,594 other threads you’ve argued this in.

I’m outta here. It’s Friday! 👍

(but just have to add this P.S. - :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:)

You are SO right.👍

Theistgal is a Catholic skeptic whatever that is.
It’s a Catholic who doesn’t automatically believe everything other Catholics say unless it’s backed up by authoritative documents provided by the Magisterium. 👍

Ed, if you don’t mind my saying so this sounds a little hysterical.

Every President we’ve had in the last twenty years have worn their Christian religion on their sleeve. Something like 80% of the U.S. population is Christian, among which a large portion are fundamentalist Christians.

And you’re talking about the atheists taking over? Come on, man. That does not stick. I think it makes more sense to surmise that atheists have become more active in the last few years to counteract what they see as an intermingling of secular (state) and religious affairs. That is something we should all fear.

Technocracy? I don’t think so. You can relax.

Best,

Tor
