Hi!

Does anyone have any good ways on how Evolution fits in with Catholicism (Adam and Eve’s existence, them being our first parents, etc.)

If anyone has ever compiled a chronology or a detailed article on how much of the theory of Evolution should be used, our evolution from apes, dinosaurs, etc then could they please link it? Or if someone could explain how it all works just on here would be rockin’ too.

Thanks and God Bless.

I have a good Roman Catholic friend that believed in “Created Evolution”… To paraphrase it states that the theory of evolution is true in that man evolved as part of natural selection from a single celled organism. (Darwin or any true evolutionist did not say or doesn’t believe that man evolved from Apes). However, God over saw this evolution to sure that man became a being in his image.

Naturalistic evolution: (10% support). 1 Same beliefs as for the theistic view, except that God or other deities are assumed to have played no part in the processes. Origins and change in the universe, including the evolution of life species on Earth, were driven by purely natural forces and processes. Many people have associated scientific views with strong Atheism – the belief that no deity exists. Certainly, many scientists who support naturalistic evolution do not believe in the existence of a supreme being or beings. But others believe both in evolution and in one or more Gods and/or Goddesses who do not intrude on the outcome of natural forces. Some of the latter are Deists who believe that God created the universe, started it in motion, left the universe, and allowed natural processes to originate life and drive evolution.
Old Earth creation science: (Under 7% public support) 1 They believe that each “day” in Genesis may have been much longer than 24 hours; others believe that there were very long gap(s) between one or more of the “days.” The number of supporters for this belief system is unknown. The Gallup Poll from which we estimate the support for this belief did not give old earth creation science as an option.

Evolution doesn’t disprove the existence of God any more than humans writing down God’s words (rather than the Bible falling down from Heaven) disproves the existence of God. It is none of our business how God chose to create us or write Scripture, what matters is that He did. 🙂

Here is a quick proof of God.

Given that the Universe has only two possible causes:
  1. A phenomenon explainable by science
  2. God (a supernatural cause)
And given that the scientific method consists of these essential steps:
  1. Form hypothesis that A causes B
  2. Test whether B occurs after A
  3. Accept / reject / retest
And given that there exists a principle called Brother Occam’s Razor, which favors the simpler of multiple explanations for a phenomona.

The current scientific consensus is that the Universe emerged out of a singularity in an event known as the Big Bang, and that time began at that moment.

The scientific method requires that each effect has a cause. Given that the Big Bang is the first event in time, what caused the singularity which caused the Big Bang?

The scientific method cannot be used to determine the cause of the singularity because it only works if one can test whether B occurs after A. No time, no causality, no science.

Therefore, the origin of the Universe cannot be explained by the scientific method, leaving God as the only explanation. Occam’s Razor cannot be used against God because it requires multiple explanations from which to select and only One is available.

God exists. QED. 👍
Thanks and God Bless.
God bless you too! 🙂

Food for thought:

If there was no “death” at all before Adam’s sin, then how can evolution be true?
