• Prelude Mass for the 50th Annual International Eucharistic Congress at Dublin’s Pro-Cathedral, which will be celebrated by Ireland’s Apostolic Nuncio Charles Brown (who just happens to be from the U.S.). Best of all, you will be able to hear the world-renowned Palestrina Choir. Airs 12 p.m. ET, Sunday, May 6.

This is a prelude to the Congress, which will be celebrated in Dublin June 10-17, 2012. According to organizers, this international gathering is intended to promote awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Catholic Church, to improve our understanding and celebration of the Liturgy, and to draw attention to the social dimension of the Eucharist.

• Enthronement of William C. Skurla as the fifth Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archparchy of Pittsburgh. Heads up Byzantine Catholics and those who love Church pageantry! Metropolitan Archbishop-elect William C. SKurla, D.D., has been appointed as the fifth Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh and head of the Byzantine Catholic (Ruthenian) Metropolitan Church of Pittsburgh. This is the only Eastern Catholic Metropolitan Church “sui juris” (self-governing) in the U.S. See him enthroned at 1:30 p.m. ET, Sunday, May 6, with an encore at 12 a.m. ET, Monday, May 7.

• Eucharist, a three-part series hosted by Father Robert Barron (“Catholicism”). Father will introduce us to the mystery of Christ’s Presence in our lives and the centrality of the Eucharist as an important part of that Presence, discuss the reality of the Eucharist as a sacred meal, the sacrifice necessary for communion with God, and much more. Airs 3:30 p.m. ET, and 6:30 p.m. ET, Monday, May 7; and 3 a.m. ET and 6:30 p.m. ET, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 8-9.
