GATE OF HEAVEN: The Solemn Consecration of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Oratory of the Immaculate Conception
On May 31, 2003 this Solemn Consecration was performed by the Most Rev. Bishop of Lacross, Raymond L. Burke. Witness the entire beautiful ceremony – the purification & dedication of the Church, translocation of the relics, consecration of the Church, and celebration of the first pontifical High Mass, using the traditional Latin rite of the Liturgy. Airs 10 pm October 6, 1 pm October 9, 10 am October 10. (EDT times, add 4 hours for GMT)

I watched half an hour of it yesterday. It was late, and I needed sleep. They don’t show the Dedication in it’s entirety, rather bits and pieces from each step of the dedication.

Overall I was disappointed with the qualilty of the film, the music and the content. I realize the entire celebration took 5 hours but I would have liked to have seen the Mass and not just those bits and pieces. I don’t think they showed more than 1/2 hour with info on the Society before and after. Someone commented to me that it seemed more an infomercial for Christ the King - sadly I had to agree.

Now I understand there is available a video of the entire ceremony available with good quality music, etc.

Speaking of some good examples of music, check out this site and click on streaming video

Anyone know if there is a DVD or video of this Mass that is full lenght?

Sorry to report that I talked to someone who ordered that DVD from Christ the King and that the advertising on it is misleading in that it appears that the entire Mass will be included and it is not. It is the same as that shown on EWTN - so don’t bother ordering it.

D’oh! Thanks for the heads up though. It’s a shame though as the clips that I saw looked awesome for the most part and it would have been nice to see the whole consecration and Mass.

I love the beauty that the Mass is celebrated with at EWTN but I am really drawn to the Tidentine Mass. Does anyone know if there are any plans to show a Tridentine Mass at the EWTN chapel or shrine. I would really like to see the TLM celebrated by one of the Franciscans at EWTN.

Colin Donovan has answered this question before on behalf of EWTN. The answer is no.

In order to request the indult, there must be a body of faithful who want the indult. He explained that because the majority of those who attend the daily Mass at the chapel are visitors, the tridentine Mass would never be offered on a regular basis.
