EWTN: hymns at daily mass

For those of you who watched Mass today on EWTN (6/14/07), I have a question.

What in the world is the name of the hymn sung for the recessional? I’ve heard that hymn several times and I can NEVER remember the name.

Any help from those of you in CAF land? 👍
 
I don’t know what the hymn was, but I believe that they use the Adoremus Hymnal. Perhaps you could buy one from Ignatius Press and find the song. Then, take the hymnal and share it with your pastor and musicians so they will fall in love with it and buy hundreds more for your parish.

Wow, I REALLY appreciate you’re advice! I may have to do exactly that! 🤷

In all seriousness, doesn’t EWTN have a list of hymns used in their broadcasted Masses? Perhaps I’m thinking of the Mass from Notre Dame I’ve seen in the past, but I could have sworn that EWTN has their hymns posted somewhere, I just can’t find it and was hoping for a link of some sort.

EWTN often uses the Adoremus Hymnal for their Masses. If the hymns are from the Adoremus, they usually flash the title and number at the bottom of the screen as the hymn is being sung.
 
If you can remember some of the verse, maybe those who are familiar with hymns can help you out. Unfortunately, the archives at EWTN only focus on the homily, not the entire liturgy.
 
Another option may require a bit of computer knowledge - if you can record a few seconds onto your computer, then post the sound file to a web page and link to it, knowledgeable folks here should be able to ID it.
 
For what it’s worth, my experience with the EWTN daily Mass is that they use hymns which would be easily recognizable to any of us who grew up before Vatican II. I haven’t heard one yet that I haven’t sung before.

I’m not familiar with the Adoremus hymnal. We use Worship III and in the “dark ages” it was the St. Gregory hymnal.
 
I want to recommend the Adoremus hymnal, even if you DON’T want to find out what they’re singing on EWTN.

It’s a marvelous collection, with chant Masses and some very solid hymns.

I have mostly used Gather (about which will say no more as I’m trying really hard to not say anything if I can’t say something nice,) and was delighted to find Adoremus.

I would want my parish to use it, were it not for the fact that it has no Psalter, and I think singing the Psalm needs to be a priority before we worry about hymns, which are really just added songs, according to someone’s personal taste and piety, rather than an integral part of the Liturgy.

Now if I could just find a way to get the music they sing at some of the Papal Masses…
