Who has the right to impose EWTN on Jehovah’s Witnesses?

The question I ask is 'what have they done to deserve it? 😛

I’ll actually be in the studio audience Jeff, if you’d like to talk briefly after the show… 👍

Hi Rolltide:

I look forward to meeting you in person.

Jeff S.

if i had good health and a ride, i’d attend myself:) but rolltide gets the pleasure instead:) hey jeff, will you be mentioning the latest with that couple in BC that refused their kids some transfusions,? the courts took some of the sixtuplets away because the parents refused them a life saving transfusion.

2 of the sixtpulets died, and 4 are alive thank God the Father in heaven! that has been all over the news here at home.

the society should be ashamed of themselves yet AGAIN!

Dr. Schwehm, when it comes to JW teaching, you are my main man! Perfect timing! A lovely JW married couple dropped in on me last Sunday. We had a great talk. I hope they’ll be back. I’ve listened to your JH programs two or three times since then to get a feel for what their beliefs are. Very informative. Unfortunately I teach CCD on Monday nights so I won’t be able to watch the first half of the show.

Knowing that they put a lot of weight on the problem of translation, when they pointed to scripture passages, I looked them up in my Greek Septuagint or New Testament (too bad my Hebrew isn’t up to snuff).

Perhaps I played too strong a card too soon when I asked them why they believe in the Bible and then followed up by asking them how the New Testament was assembled.

One thing that made my jaw drop was their statement that Jesus discarded his body when he ascended to the Father. Is that a JW teaching? I’m sure you’ll have a gazillion call-ins but if you want to entertain THAT question on the air between 8:30 and 9:00 (7:30-8:00 Alabama time), let me know, and be sure to tell the producer to expect my call. PM me and I’ll give you my name.

I certainly cant wait for this episode, Id love to hear you and Carlos.

If possible I would like to jump on the mercygate bandwagon and find out how the JWs explain the resurrection of Jesus, on their page they say he rose as an “immortal spirit person”…not sure the details on that (especially considering Jn 20) but it would be cool to hear what you have to say on the show.

Yeah. That’s what they said right before they said that Jesus discarded his body. “Spirit beings” are higher forms than we are. We are all going to become angels . . . . (So then how are we going to live forever in the earthly paradise?)

They wouldn’t pursue my questions about Jesus’ careful demonstration of his corporeality: Breaking bread at Emmaus - - -Put your hand in my side . . . Do you have anything to eat . . . grilling fish on the beach . . .

See this thread.

It’s unfortunate that you teach CCD???

Hey, the Jehovah’s Witnesses take most of the Bible out of context. I just thought that I’d see what that’s like.😃

Boy! did they take it out of context when they were showing me their script!

This post has kind of slowed down, but I’ll reply anyway. The last sentence of the quote is quite astonishing and a little funny.

It’s from the “You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth” book, pp 144-145:

“But since the apostle Thomas was able to put his hand into the hole in Jesus’ side, does that not show that Jesus was raised from the dead in the same body that was nailed to the stake? No, for Jesus simply materialized or took on a fleshly body, as angels had done in the past. In order to convince Thomas of who He was, He used a body with wound holes.”

This stuff reminds me of Islam, where they say that Jesus didn’t really die. As if God could lie about a thing like death and resurrection.
