I don’t see the usual “Where God Weeps” program that’s been showing in the past, on EWTN from Aid to the Church in Need.

Naturally, EWTN has no knowledge of the persecution of the Eastern Catholic church (esp Eastern Europe) that has been continuing at least all my life (I’m 58). I have met, have personally known or have heard of many, many Ukrainian Catholics who STILL are persecuted for their faith. If you have heard of the visionary, Josep Terelya, he’s a good example of one. Cardinal Josep Slipyj spent 18 years in a Siberian prison camp because he would not denouce his faith. There are still underground churches in Ukraine. Priests dress as peasants and beggars to travel from village to village to celebrate a mass in a village.

Have you heard this well known story: The soviet soldiers invaded a certain village because they got word of such a priest and mass in a certain home. One of the soldiers said,We know this is happening here. We will kill you all. I give you this last chance to stop this and leave now to save your lives. A few ran out of the house. These soldiers were ready to kill those remainining in the house and gave them 1 final warning,but the peasants would not denouce God. The soldiers then said, Now I know I can trust you. If you are willing to die for your faith, I know you will not report me if I join you in the Divine Liturgy here and now.
