Did anyone else see this? Unfortunately I fell asleep about 5 minutes after posting about it so I missed most of it. Looks like it will be repeated this Friday and Sat.

Sun. July 10 at 2 AM ET, Fri. July 15 at 10 PM ET, & Sat. July 16 at 2 PM ET
This story of the persecuted Ukrainian Catholic Church relates how appearances of Our Lady to Ukrainians encouraged the faithful there to persevere under oppression, a perseverance which eventually gained them the freedom to practice their faith openly.

The Big Bang Theory DVD proved to be one of the funniest comedies ever broadcast television. I had not laughed out loud this hard since the heyday of Frasier and Seinfeld - and BIG BANG is always great! The fact that this is a small man with a strong sense of an incorrect date and The L Word DVD still lives with his mother insists on using a set of lines in the direct collection of advice columns of men magazine - and still bears the gift of God to women is hilarious. Curb Your Enthusiasm DVD The show inevitably makes use combinations of old sitcoms (The Odd Couple, inadequate unrequited love interest), but even if you can tell them they are used fresh as everything else is good entertainment! Cold Case DVD The way to really enjoy what he is well on DVD. Writing is so intelligent and jokes fly as fast (many of them non-verbal), there is no way to enjoy it in its broadcast weekly. Well, Sheldon, but could then again, who can compare her intelligence with her? When I first saw this show, Desperate Housewives DVD I laughed hysterically, but thought it would appeal to a wider audience? As time passed, the character development was great and the writing is always good. As a professional physicist, I am also concerned about the accuracy of science.

Hurray for the spammer who happened to bump this thread. I’d forgotten about it and so missed the replay of this earlier tonight but will plan to see the program tomorrow: Sat. July 16 at 2 PM ET

I saw most of the latter part of the program and it was very interesting.

the religious persecution by Stalin is legendary and it’s sickening to be reminded of it.

would that be the only programme that they air on the EC’s? that they have aired like millionnnnn times? its a great programme indeed but its a shame its the only one. I’d like to see them create a program that takes Christians more in depth into the EC Liturgy and what goes on there and it’s theology.

What a shame this program is over 20 years old.

This have REALLY progressed since this program was made…😃

If they don’t hear from us, hopefully with appreciation when there is good programming, and that we want more programs relevant to ECC/OCC it will never happen.

The program was quite old. I watched it with an elderly friend from my Latin parish and for him it was interesting. It was old and that is a problem but that said it was well made and I did like that it seemed to speak of the persecution of the both Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches. They made use of a female historian who was an Orthodox Christian.

Again, I strongly encourage speaking up about the need for more programming related to ECCs and newer programs. It does seem that the ones they rerun again and again are good programs. The persecutions of our people in the homelands especially of Iraq, and even coverage of the persecutions of Orthodox, such as the Coptic Churches in Egypt, seems to have gotten more probing coverafe this year. I’ve seen and heard some very good interviews, for example on the news show The World Over.

I am not at all surprised. Anyone from the Eastern Rite knows there is little if any interest or compassion from the Western Rite. Though we are one in the church, there is ignorance and apathy if it is not at your doorstep.

I have not seen this program, however from these posts I assume it is from the Stalinist era (where as my parents barely survived) and it is not now, for which there is still PLENTY of anti catholic persecution.

Did you know:
  1. 6 million Jews died in Hitler’s concentration camps but **9 million Ukrainian Catholics died **at the hands of Stalin = where was the Catholic church?
  2. In the 60s and 70s millions of Ukrainian Catholics were persecuted and died for their faith : the most common torture was to live in a glass grinding facility, in inhale glass dust and then be listed as a smoker on death records. Has anyone heard of Josef Terelya? Pope John Paul II did and actually summoned him on several occasions.
  3. my own father was bypassed as ‘dead’ at 60 lb when the Americans liberated him, and he told me stories about eating tree roots and grass under snow to survive.
We have to understand this, the West will never understand the persecution of the faithful until it happens to them. Only problem is,then it will be too late.
