What are your views on EWTN? I have never watched it and know little about it but I would be interested in knowing what all of you think about it.

I watch it and support it
I have it on all of my waking hours, which would be from 5am till now… Don’t know what I’d do without it.👍

I love it.

I hear it slammed quite a bit in my deacon formation classes, though 😦

In a seminary??? What in the heck are they complaining about, if I may ask? And is it coming from fellow “students”, or from the instructors?

By the way - God bless you and be with you on your journey to ordination!!!

Peace,

I love EWTN and it was a great help when I was considering conversion, particularly the Journey Home that has a weekly convert who tells their story. I feel like I walked a parallel path with many of these people. I always watch The World Over and there are some excellent programs for both men and women. Of course you can’t forget Father Corapi. Watch him once and he’s unforgettable. I also really enjoy Fr Groeshel and Father Mitch and so on and so on…

I didn’t vote because I don’t get EWTN on TV, just radio. I love to listen, though. Mother Angelica! That woman cracks me up!! It’s a wonderful radio station, and if I got it on TV, I’d watch that, too. 😃

EWTN played a huge part in my staying in the Catholic Church. They are faithful and wonderful in their presentations of the Church’s teachings.

I recommend The Journey Home – conversion stories, Mother Angelica Classic Episodes, The World Over (news from a Catholic perspective), Threshold of Hope (teachings of John Paul II), EWTN Live, and Life on the Rock (geared to young adults but I enjoy it, too!).

What in the heck do they mean by this? Is it telecast from the fities through some sort of major tape delay?

Most of the programs there are very current, with teaching from current Church leadership.

Maybe “pre-Vatican II” means “orthodox?” :bigyikes:

I watch it and support it as much as I can (sadly very little financially lately). Mother Angelica helped bring me to the Catholic church as a convert in the early 90’s and that in turn helped my maternal Grandfather who had been estranged from the Church for decades to die with the Sacraments. Though I strayed from the Chruch for a few years after my Grandfather’s death, that was my own bad choice. I know that my life would have better if I would have stayed with the Church and follwed her teachings and those of Mother Angelica and EWTN.

For some time now, I have been grateful, in many ways, that EWTN is available in my area. More recently, their thorough coverage of the passing of John Paul II, the Interregnum, during the Conclave, and all the subsequent events surrounding the election of Pope Benedict XVI is greatly appreciated.
They are a blessing.

smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/17/17_1_16.gif Great, awesome, wonderful, spiritual life saving, thats how I feel about EWTN! For all these many years - at least 10 for me - listening on a short wave radio and then hooking up with Dish sattelite to get it - has been like giving a large, cold, drink of water to one dying of thirst! Especially here on Lake Wobegone where the Catholic Faith was hijacked and left to morph into some distorted liberal social program - slowly serving fewer and fewer. Being able to spiritually share in the Holy Mass, listen to the great priests and religious on our Faith, all the great talks, visits with excellent guests, and of course, enjoying the personalities truly became like my Faith family. The Marian Peace Center in Petoskey (founded by the late Barb Smith) brought so many holy priests to the annual conference in Boyne City - many from EWTN - to personally meet them and get to Confession and have Benediction - sustained me till the next chance. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Mother Angelica and the Sisters, the work they have brought about, truly, truly meeting the call to be great saints. I am hoping to attend the 32nd Annual May Rosary Triduum, May 15-17, at St. Stanisalaus Church in Bay City, where Fr. Jacques Daley, BENEDICTINE priest and host on EWTN, will celebrate the Mass, followed by the Rosary and meditations. Confessions will be heard before Mass.
Hope to see you there! The World Apostolate of Fatima is the sponsor of the Triduum.👋

…of the possible 155 channels that my tv brings in, it is my favorite channel…👍

I love and support EWTN . I watch it everyday. I first “accidently” (it was the HOLY SPIRIT I just know it!)came upon the channel in 1992 and Mother Angelica’s show was on. I was hooked ever since! I was an Episcopalian with a feeling that something was missing. In 1995 I came into the Catholic Church and I feel like I owe it to Mother Angelica and the network that now I have the fullness of the faith. EWTN and Mother Angelica will always have a special place in this convert’s life! By the way, since my conversion, my 3 sisters and 2 brothers have come home too, not to mention my daughter, husband and one cousin!

I love EWTN. It is amazing to me how my children will sit down and watch this channel so readily. It has a very calming effect on them too which is always a plus 😉 . My Great Aunt was just moved into an assisted living type place about a month ago. She is able to EWTN there where she wasn’t able to before. She loves it. According to those who work with her it is on whenever she is in her apartment.

Are they worried about orthodox teaching? What a shame. If I were you I would regularly watch it to make sure what you are being taught is really faithful to the Church. You can’t get better than Fr. Corapi in my book.

FONT=Comic Sans MS]About 75% of my TV viewing is EWTN programming. (Otherwise its news, sports, or American Idol :o )

Favorite shows are:

Life on the Rock
The Journey Home
The World Over Live w/ Raymond Arroyo
The Daily Mass

One of the BEST things is that the shows are not interrupted every ten minutes for five minutes of commercials! I love it.

If there is an hour long show, they have two short breaks and they are not hawking toilet paper or “male enhancement products” but instead listing upcoming shows and short vignettes with a little music and a saint honored or an uplifting quote is displayed. It’s not crass and loud and tacky like network TV.

Aside from that the shows are really helpful and most are quite well done.
