He confirmed the appointment! I’m so happy. I reall hope that this will be able to help him and help us.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t grow up with the best theological influence. My mother seemed to resent God in a weird way. She consistently warned me about praying, that God likes to trick people and screw them over. Praying to God was essentially wishing on the monkey’s paw. So you might think your prayer was answered positively, but in fact, it was going to explode in your face. For some reason, that was just how God operated. I don’t know where my mother got this idea.

But it sticks with me, as internalized things from childhood do. So now that it seems that my prayers are being answered positively (albeit slowly), I’m constantly afraid that it’s all going to reverse and I’m going to end up worse off, per the will of God.

So I guess please pray for me that I have faith!

Considering doing a Novena to St. Jude.

My ex gets along well with me and is even affectionate towards me at times, and his appointments are still set up. Interestingly, I’ve ordered some books on Amazon on two subjects: getting answers to prayer and breakups. The books on answers to prayer came in as any other order would, but the books on breakups all managed to have delivery problems and were returned. I wonder why?

**“O holy Father, St. Benedict, blessed by God both in grace and in name, who, while standing in prayer, with hands raised to heaven, didst most happily yield thy angelic spirit into the hands of thy Creator, and hast promised zealously to defend against all the snares of the enemy in the last struggle of death, those who shall daily remind thee of thy glorious departure and heavenly joys; protect me, I beseech thee, O glorious Father, this day and every day, by thy holy blessings, that I may never be separated from our dear Lord, from the society of thyself, and of all the blessed. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.”

St. Benedict himself revealed to St. Gertrude - also one of the greatest saints in the history of the Catholic Church, and herself a Benedictine nun - that “whoever reminds me of the extraordinary privilege with which God deigned to glorify my last moments, shall experience my particular assistance in his final combat. I will be a faithful protector against the assaults of the enemy. Fortified by my presence, he will escape the snares of the evil one and safely attain eternal happiness.”

Amen.**

Day 3 of Novena to St. Jude.

When I am in prayer with God, I feel certain and blessed. As soon as I leave that state, however, I feel depressed, let down and forgotten.

I’m going to start a novena to St. Thomas the Apostle for you! I’ll ask that he intercedes for you to find peace and clarity to know that God loves you and He’s taking you through these troubled waters for a reason…He knows you’re strong enough to overcome this. I’ll be praying. :hug3:

Today is our first appointment with the new therapist. Please pray that it works out!

I finished the Novena to St. Jude today, talked to him on the phone yesterday, he said that he’s thought a lot about “going back” to who he used to be. He also said that we have to see what the future holds for us. I’m not sure if I should be hopeful but I loved hearing that!

I have the opportunity to visit him tonight, what do you think I should do? Should I wait for him to contact me first or go over there to see what happens?

I saw him last night and he seems to be doing well. Keep praying for him!

He’s still friendly with me today and even wants to go out to the Art Museum with me on Sunday!

But… he’s been somewhat evasive with me about what he’s doing tomorrow. It could just be that he doesn’t want me to be there; it could be something worse. Still, he also wants to continue to see the therapist with me and the psychiatrist, as well as see a movie with me next month.

Sometimes I feel like God is answering my prayers, albeit very slowly and with a few tests of faith along the way, and if I’m just patient, I will be rewarded. But then this thinking gets into my head, “That’s impossible, God doesn’t answer these types of prayers, you’re just fooling yourself, give up”. I don’t know where one or the other feeling comes from.

I’ve considered a second Novena to St. Jude. Are Novenas cumulative? As in, if I’ve done one and things are progressing, albeit slowly, should I do another?

He’s still confused. He discussed his gender confusion for the first time with the new counselor today and she explained how his grandfather’s abuse could have influenced it. He said he needed time to “process it”. So we’re making progress, albeit slowly.

She mentioned something I found kind of odd, not in that she mentioned it but that I’d never thought of it before. My boyfriend is pretty easy-going and she mentioned how he doesn’t seem to get angry that often, that maybe he’s frustrated and angry a lot but just represses it. Perhaps he views anger as being “male = bad” so he doesn’t allow himself to feel it. Interesting to think about.

Any progress is good progress! I pray he finds God through all of this and becomes the man the good Lord intended him to be. 🙂

Thank you. I’m keeping the faith. I think he may be a little skeptical of the counselor’s claims, but admits she’s a professional.
