First I realise there is no such thing as an ex catholic, but by this I mean a baptised and confirmed catholic who wants nothing to do with our church. I’m a late revert the only church attender in my family. My grandfather passed away and the ex catholic (one of many in my family) has organised a non catholic burial, she often attends a rather anti catholic Protestant church. I’ve tried to spread the good news in the last ten years I’ve been at church but it is either met with ridicule or indifference. She says she believes the Eucharist is cannabilsm I tried explaining but this is just the tip of the iceberg. My grandfather before his dementia and eventual death used to receive the sacraments it just all feels wrong to me that he should be denied a catholic burial by their decision, but the decision has been made, it will be hard to go to the funeral too, please pray for me and my family, I’m so confused now and feel more isolated from my family because of my faith, but wouldn’t give up my faith for anything or anyone. -above all please pray for the repose of the soul of my grandfather. Thank you.

Father please show mercy and help pass judgement on our heart and faith. We are followers of Christ and believe and love Jesus. Please wash our sins away and welcome Tony’s grandfather into heaven as a child of God. In your name, Jesus amen!

Praying for your grandfather and your family. Remember it’s the Holy Spirit’s job to convert people in their own time. Perhaps you planted some seeds. Love them first and then maybe they will listen. I would recommend going to the funeral. Would your grandfather want you to be estranged from your family? You can also have a Mass said for your grandfather.

Hail Mary
Full of grace
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus
Holy Mary
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of death,
Amen

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. x10

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Tony I’m sorry for the loss of your grandfather, and sad that you are burdened with the additional pain of a non-Catholic funeral,
but I think God that He has ensured that you are praying for his soul, a wonderful blessing God has given him and you.
Perhaps you could ask your priest to offer a Mass for his soul.

Kind wishes in your lpss and sorrow. May God give you peace.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

A friend at church sent me a card saying she has arranged with our priest a mass fro the happy repose of his soul, I so thankful for this, and for the priest and faithful prayers at church and here on this forum. Thank you.

God bless her Tony, and I ask God to bless you abundantly for your caring concern for your grandfather’s wishes and his soul.
You are a great blessing to your family even though most of them don’t know that.

Merciful God please welcome Tony’s grandfather into Your presence in his last moment. He loved You in life, and lived the Sacraments. He suffered much in his confusing illness. Please flood him with eternal happiness, and grant his prayers for his loyal grandson Tony,
and his prayers for his family in the great need of their souls. Please lead them to You and the fullness of truth and salvation before their time comes.
