First I realise there is no such thing as an ex catholic, but by this I mean a baptised and confirmed catholic who wants nothing to do with our church. I’m a late revert the only church attender in my family. My grandfather passed away and the ex catholic (one of many in my family) has organised a non catholic burial, she often attends a rather anti catholic Protestant church. I’ve tried to spread the good news in the last ten years I’ve been at church but it is either met with ridicule or indifference. She says she believes the Eucharist is cannabilsm I tried explaining but this is just the tip of the iceberg. My grandfather before his dementia and eventual death used to receive the sacraments it just all feels wrong to me that he should be denied a catholic burial by their decision, but the decision has been made, it will be hard to go to the funeral too, please pray for me and my family, I’m so confused now and feel more isolated from my family because of my faith, but wouldn’t give up my faith for anything or anyone. -above all please pray for the repose of the soul of my grandfather. Thank you.
