Seems to me like you just couldn’t separate the Church itself from some of the people who attend…
I can’t because the Church doesn’t: that’s the idea behind the doctrine of the Mystical Body of Christ. Officially the Catholic Church says, “Catholics, you are the Church, and the Church is the Body of Christ, therefore you are the Body of Christ”. Christ shouldn’t be so divided, I don’t think.

But I get your underlying point, the spirit of it, and I think you’re right.

I find that you passed on an opportunity to make a difference. If that Church you attended was not living up to your expectations, you needed to meet with the Parish Priest and talk to him about it. In all honesty and candor, charitably of course. You were offered a chance to share what you had discovered in your life and help make a difference in other people’s lives. Maybe go to a different Parish in your area.
I tried and I tried and I tried, all of what you suggested. Can’t say much more than that. 😦
On a different subject, When you go into your personal interpretation about Paul and Peter and how that allegedly affects Apostolic Succession, you are making yourself an authority
Because I no longer trust the authority of the Church. That’s the crux of the matter. And I’m fine with all of it. I didn’t start posting in this thread to go off onto into all these matters, or to crusade for my own POV, I just wanted to respond re: the OP, and things took off from there.

And with that, I think I’ll retire myself from this discussion. 🙂 Later…

10-4, you showed a lot of class and honesty in your answers.

I pray you can find where Christ wants you to be.
