Rebecca…

Wish you lived by me…I like the environment…with some drinks…to ask questions…

My former Dominican pastor told me he privately considers it a heresy that being Christian is being nice.

My older son at a liberal Catholic grade school …told me that he thought Christianity was all about being nice…and it didn’t sit with him right…he stands up for people…has empathy…

When I was in missions, the Italian priests were actually part of that fore front dealing dealing with past clergy abuses…Italy was terrible around time of reformation. They came over to visit us one day. The priests came over and sat directly next to me while I was at lunch. ‘If you saw someone being abused…what would you do?’…I felt pretty nervous…then I said I would tell that person to stop.

‘If that person did not stop, what would you do then?’…I would go out for help. Then they said that is being godly.

They wanted us to be just who we are and not try to be Christian…but to respond to Christ where He really was in how we were…be real…only way we can genuinely grow.

In Redemptoris Missio, #17, 18…John Paul II speaks about the danger of being in a popular place of sharing faith in God that is benevolent, peaceful, caring…but is devoid of the message of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

He goes on further to say that the Church is essentially to spread forgiveness and reconciliation, and to serve the poor…After all, as another mentioned earlier…at judgment, Christ will say, ‘I was hungry, etc.’ We do not do social work.

We live Christ in the place and level we are at. We are living out the spirituality of the Mass…restore broken relationships, serve those in need…So many times, John Paul II would take time out in day to restore his relationship with Christ…

The Catholic Church is not church centered. The Catholic Church is to spread the Good News and help the poor…outward oriented. There is the ongoing temptation to be ‘churchy’…cliquey…self-righteous.

In the spiritual walk…the more we depend on Christ in living His Word, the less we depend on our human power. Only Christ can make sense out of this world, and give it true meaning that brings us happiness.

Yes…when we depend too much on public church settings to share…it is usually veiled.

We tend to become ‘churchy’ in our sharings as such, so they end up being superficial, and not creating deeper bonds.

I am going to my parish today to invite people to consider creating a satellite faith community closer to where I live…we are along city and county lines and some what incongruous, so that we can continue to reflect and learn more about the Mass, and share living out the Gospel, hopefully with John Paul II example and teachings…as real people – and neighbors, while remaining essentially centered with our local parish.

That sounds very good. 🙂

I’ve met good people here, a few who I have met in person. One, became my sponsor, and another I sponsored.

🙂

I’ve been decreasing my time online more and more. Increasing my involvement in a lot of areas off line, including at our parish.

Well, came back from the church gathering…first, we did not have much of a turn out but we had a good sharing…and the strongest was either understanding the new translation forthcoming at Advent…but really, how most Catholics elsewhere have the Latin translated…more an issue for the English speaking churches—England, America, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, etc.

And – how people share more deeply and connect more in an off site, home setting…

I suggested satellite groups…

Then the next issue – reflected today – is how much time people can commit…will it have to be for 1.5 hours once a month outside of everything else for small parish sub-communities…

I am on municipal, county line with 4 parishes…I told our faith formation director I am not interested in book clubs, etc., but forming a small community to live out spirituality of Mass and Gospel with teachings from John Paul II…and I am now thinking of seeing if there are those interested in the 4 parishes here…and then seeing how we can form unity from these parishes, connected to them and yet serving our immediate local.

I noticed our pastor really take it in that our given local is different in each area…

Extending Christ’s forgiveness of all our wrongs…and serving Him in the poor…recognizing the poor as well in more affluent areas…

And then how often…along side this is the young people, most able to commit weekly…

Yes, Rebecca, I am winding down here…as well…

God bless!

Thanks, Rebecca…am making a copy of this…

The concern is authentic Christology…the true Christ revealed to mankind.

It is important to study and reflect on Christ, but essentially, true Christianity is meant to be lived out…and bear the fruit of Jesus Christ Himself.

I am hoping my grown kids will come with me to visit a deeply spirit filled group of Catholic university students who began this profound gathering down by the Coast that is now here in the center of the city. They are being head by men of a religious order…able to connect the students to Christ in a way these young people, raised on hi-tech, can understand…Hope to learn alot.

How the world needs Christ!!!

Hello, I am exmormon, now catholic and grateful for God’s patience. I was a convert to Mormonism many years ago, but thankfully did not get as deeply involved as many. However, it was still extraordinariloy difficult to unthink Mormonism, you almost need an exorcism to get rid of its influence, and it is quite frightening to leave but this I did because I was so disgusted with the fraud that it perpetrates in the name of Christ. It is one of the strongest delusions and heresies you will come across and it is very sad to think of so many deluded people striving to be good enough in the name of their religion. So for those who are coming out or are out but still feeling thepain, read your bible just as it is. Don’t seek to find passages that prove this or that but read it prayerfully, and when you are doing so, just have this in the back of your mind:
“be still and know that I am God” I wish you all the peace that passes all understanding because that is what you need. God bless

Hi LynetteJane,

Welcome! I hear you about still having some issues…I have recommended and will do so again, to consider reading the ‘Dialogues’ by St. Catherine of Siena…her writings were most extraordinary.

She has many small books within and they take alot of thinking…but they helped bring me to Christ Himself…Who Christ is and who we are not. It really helped me to separate the Lord from our own humanity, and subsequently not be burdened by it, but encouraged to live more deeply with Christ.

Very powerful reading…or St. Theresa of Avila…St. John of the Cross…

Thankyou Marie, please forgive my inventive spelling. I have come to the conclusion that on the advice of St Paul, arguing about philosophies etc is futile. So it is my intention to commit the Mormon people to prayer, and when the opportunity arrives, leave them with the word of God as it never returns to Him void. But I am not seeking out encounters with Mormons necessarily, I believe a prayer ministry is what is needed to free them from the delusion. Of myself I am useless, but with the Holy Spirit and prayer, what can be accomplished? That’s where I am, I really feel for them, but you know when they point towards the Mormon challenge when they claim that Mormonism could not come out of the mind of man, they are so right!! It has come out of the mind of a much greater adversary, one that only God can (has) beaten, but in his spite wishes to destroy as many as possible. Perhaps all catholic ex mormons should also become prayer warriors for the mormon people.
God bless
