I am a Catechumen and I have to write at least a one page reflection on Examination of conscience and I have no idea what this means. I would be very grateful if anyone can help me with this. I am new to this.
NUMBER TWO below is excellent for your paper, in my opinionI am a Catechumen and I have to write at least a one page reflection on Examination of conscience and I have no idea what this means. I would be very grateful if anyone can help me with this. I am new to this.
thank youi hope they mean a reflection on the value of an examination of conscience and not the results of a personal examination. No one can, nor should, ask you about what you reflected on during an examination except your confessor or spiritual director.
As pjm said the primary function is to examine where we have fallen short. When done nightly, it helps us identify patterns that lead us to sin and if done honestly allow us to ask god for the graces to grow in christian perfection. By honestly, i mean not trying to justify what we did wrong or glossing over our short comings. We have to beaware of our shortcomings and own them if we seek to grow in the spiritual life. It also makes it easier when going to sacramental confession to examine your life, note mortal sins, as well as identifying reoccurring venial sins that nudge us away from god. Many times we can discern a pattern of sins that lead to an underlying root sin like pride that might not be as apparent if examined only monthly, quarterly, or yearly.
