Anyone have any good links to online examinations of conscience? I like reading different ones sometimes, they all point out different aspects that you may not have thought about before. Thanks!
 
lak611, thank you so much for posting that link! I printed out all 9 pages and plan to use it— especially good for distinguishing between mortal and venial sins.

A simple but deep method of examining your conscience is to take the two commandments Jesus gave us, i.e. love the Lord God with all your being, and love your neighbor as yourself.

Examine yourself against these two commandments.

I don’t know how to post links, but scborromeo.org has a great examination of conscience based on the 10 commandments. That;s the one I use.

I just checked out their website, and I found all kinds of material, but not an examination of conscience.
 
lak, I know you didn’t write it, but have you any idea why “playing Dungeons and Dragons or similar” is listed among venial sins/imperfections?

No, I do not. I have never played the game, so I do not know anything about it.

If you look on the left sidebar there is a link that says “my life with God”. Click that and then navigate to other pages - difficult people, self, and others - using the options under “about workbook”.

This one is ok for the most part. However, it does make some things that are not sinful appear to be. For instance: daily prayer does not have to consist of Rosary and Bible reading; it is not sinful if we do not “make the effort to go to daily Mass”; we do not need to consecrate ourselves to Mary. Someone who is scrupulous may get the impression that they are sinning if they do not do these things; but these things are not required of all Catholics.

Thanks for pointing this out. As someone who easily becomes scrupulous, I appreciated hearing this! Sometimes when I read some examination of conscience lists, or other articles, I start to worry about things that are not really sins at all. It is easy for me to blur “imperfection” with sin. So thank you for pointing this out.

I also wanted to add that I really appreciated the guide posted in post #2. I went to Confession today and that guide really helped me prepare.
