Hey everyone,

I am doing an English project and I need examples about society’s attitude towards sin in present day. In other words, how do television shows and government leaders respond to the ideas of sin?

You really need to do your own homework, OP.

Mentioning the word “sin” is itself a sin, in today’s society, UNLESS you’re talking about the environment.

In that case, “sin” is ok , and in fact encouraged. NBC recently had a special where they had “Climate Confessions” asking people to confess their climate sins. They even had a “submit your confession” tab and then a category of the climate sin (“plastics”, “meat” , “energy”, etc).

Secular governments would not codify “sin”.

It would be easier to list what people think are virtues and vices, because it isn’t as if people have no standards for other people. The standards have undergone a total change.

So what is
Chastity vs Lust
Temperance vs Gluttony
Charity vs Greed
Diligence vs Sloth
Patience vs Wrath
Kindness vs Envy
Humility vs Pride

Yes, I’d be interested in how people see how these virtues and vices are seen and just as much, what defines chastity (appropriate sexuality) vs lust (inappropriate sexuality).

Thank you so much!!! This was very helpful and I appreciate the specific links included in your response.

Lol ik that I was just having trouble finding links. My teacher also stated that including the opinions of others on this topic will really improve the project.

Just turn the TV on and begin documenting. It is endemic. To keep it simple, use the 10 Commandments as a basis for comparison.
