The Coming Home Network has prepared a pamphlet that will assist in reading through scripture and the catechism in a year. What better way for a Catholic to read scripture daily and fully understand the beliefs of the Catholic Church. In this way you can be better prepared to share that faith with others.

chnetwork.org/journals/readguide04.pdf

If you can’t get it to open click here and look in the lower left hand of the site (you will see the link for the pdf file). chnetwork.org/

It begins with prayer for the Holy Spirit to indwell the believer (something a Protestant will understand).

Thank you I will print it out when I get a chance.

I think I missed this this looks nice and handy.

God Bless

I intend to use it myself. Scripture and the catechism should be ingested and savored. Then when someone confronts you about Catholic beliefs you can say, “Well actually according to the Catechism we believe…and of course this is scriptural as you know because XXXX in verse YZ states such and such”. I have heard Fr. Pacwa very kindly do this.

This can be done with the “Call no man Father” stuff or when someone says that Relics are unscriptural Catholic superstition (you can direct them to Acts 19:11-12)…and so on.

That is cool, but that is also pretty heavy reading, it is about 4 chapters per day.

I would imagine anyone with that kind of drive wouldnt even need that guideline.

tried it for a few days to see if it is a reasonable recommend, takes about 16 min to read the scripture, 8 min to read the CCC. for just the reading, 1/2 hour is reasonable, more time if you tend to spend more time in reflection, journalling etc. but for the person who is determined to do this task, a very workable plan, and if you miss a day, just pick up where you left off.

enlarges to legal size at 110%, to ledger size at 129%, a bit more readable.

the impact it makes, to hand someone this resource, which hammers home the unity between scripture and doctrine, is a real apologetics punch

Getting into the Word and some Dogmatic Theology at the same time. Not a bad idea 🙂
