You usually do not get this type of sermon at a weekday Mass, but I heard one tonight.
I usually go to nearby parish of St. Gerald’s for Thursday night Mass. Tonight the the pastor, Fr. Browne, gave a strong sermon on the sin of Abortion. He included in the sermon parts of the letter Pope Benedict sent to the US Bishops and tied the sin of abortion to the following part of the Gospel reading:
Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words— go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet. Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town."
Normally, this type of sermon would cause people to squirm a little in the pews, but there was none tonight (you get a different crowd) at a weekday Mass than you get a Sunday Mass.
I wish I could of stayed because that had a young woman from Crossroads speaking after the Mass. I sounded like it would be interesting.
