is it a sin to make an exception to the lentan sacrifice? i gave up allforms of sweets (except fruit) but my exception was for my dad’s birthday, i would have a little piece of cake just to be respectful and celebrate with him. is this ok? and also is it a sin if you broke your sacrifice? i know the church doesn’t absolutely require you to give up something for lent but it’s encouraged

You’ve asked nearly a dozen “is this a sin” questions in just the last two or three days. You need to talk to your pastor if you tend towards scrupulosity.

Lenten observances, beyond the “fasting and abstaining” days, are not commanded by the Church and do not rise to the level of sin.

Please stop worrying about sin. Do you really think Jesus cares about sweets, coffee or giving up TV. All He asks is for you to follow Him. Take up the cross and walk with Him, he welcomes your contemplation and love with open arms.

Give up something one day at a time during Lent for sacrifice, or do something difficult as your penance/sacrifice . Like, pray the Rosary while kneeling on an uncomfortable surfice.

Walk the road to the Cross from inside your heart. Trust in Jesus.

Dear girl

Don’t you see that you already knew the answer. You really should talk to someone who can help you learn to trust your own judgment in these matters.
