The excommunicated Chinese bishop, Paul Lei Shi-yin, has committed “a sacrilege” by ordaining four new priests on Friday in Leshan diocese, southwestern China, the Vatican Archbishop, Savio Hon Tai Fa (pictured), said in Rome the day after the ordination ceremony, reports Vatican Insider.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/cathnews/RSS/~4/QKOJjNGROuw

Little background on why the bishop was consecrated without papal consent?

Because the Chinese government has formed the “Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association”, which is a state-controlled Church, not in communion with Rome, which is what the government sees as the Catholic Church in China, even though it’s not. This bishop was consecrated for the CCPA, which is schismatic, and therefor ordaining 4 priests he commited sacrilege.

There are REAL bishops, priests, and laity who are TRUE Catholics, but they’re persecuted and underground.

The “logic” of an atheist state running a church can be difficult to grasp. It is even more difficult to understand why anyone would attend religious services presided over by clerics who are servants of an atheist state. It is a funny old world. 🤷

If the bishop has been excommunicated, isn’t sacrilege a minor matter? Is a bishop still a bishop even after excommunication? If so, does he retain all the authority of a bishop? Are the new priests legitimate? Is sacrilege more serious than excommunication?
