Excommunication for partaking in heretics liturgy

Hello guys,
I came across this citation:
“If any ecclesiastic or layman shall go into the synagogue of the Jews or to the meeting-houses of the heretics to join in prayer with them, let them be deposed and deprived of communion If any Bishops or Priest or Deacon shall join in prayer with heretics, let him be suspended from Communion”

Is it a dogma or some sort of temporal rule which was overruled recently? I was attending a joined … ummm… prayer (?)… of my prish with one church (which is not in communion with Rome) parish every All souls day.

Am I excommunicated?

We are no longer under the Code of Canon Law that was in effect in the 7th Century.

You may access the 1983 Code as well as the most updated Catechism at Vatican.va

The code can drive a lay person crazy.
I would take this question to your priest or deacon and just have a nice conversation.
 
Thanks! Well I just wasn’t sure if it is not a dogma (since I couldn’t find any list of dogmas).

But it still feels wrong, and I am not sure if I should attend it 🤔

To the Jews “belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ”,328 "for the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable."329

[840] And when one considers the future, God’s People of the Old Covenant and the new People of God tend towards similar goals: expectation of the coming (or the return) of the Messiah. But one awaits the return of the Messiah who died and rose from the dead and is recognized as Lord and Son of God; the other awaits the coming of a Messiah, whose features remain hidden till the end of time; and the latter waiting is accompanied by the drama of not knowing or of misunderstanding Christ Jesus.

So many saints were against ecummenism - thats what makes it weird. Those churches leads a lot of souls to hell so how can it be fine to pray with them? 🤔

We don’t know who goes to Hell with any kind of certainty. Those churches may not have the fullness of truth but that doesn’t mean they’re an off ramp straight to Hell either.

I would encourage you to read the church documents on ecumenism if you are unclear on what the church teaches.
 
There have been a billion threads on that, and how it doesn’t mean that every non-Catholic automatically goes to hell.
 
Why don’t you read on what the Church teaches about this statement before throwing it out in this out-of-context way? Extra Ecclesiam is one of the most misunderstood teachings of the Church, and it does not mean all non-Catholics are automatically slated for Hell.

I started the thread to know answer to my question. Where it came from there was not my intention I just answered question which was in one of the comments.
 
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunatelly I can’t defend my position since my post has already been hidden and some people in the comments just doesn’t want me to say anything about this topic.
