Hello cameron_lansing,The citations from the online version of the Catholic Encyclopedia ("“Anathema” article) of 1917 ( or thereabouts) are only helpful historically.
The former penal law of the Church was abrogated and replaced by the promulgation of the new Code of Canon Law in 1983, from which I drew citations.
The ius vigens (living or current law) does not distinguish major and minor excommunications.
Further the notion of a censure does not present an action of the Church which “damns souls to eternal death by calling upon Jesus to have Him hold sins bound in heaven.”
There is no such assertion of eternal damnation in the law of the Catholic Church in union with the Roman Pontiff.
Can you please give us some sources and quotes from Church dogmas, encyclicals and cannons which state that what you are telling us is the truth. I know that modern Popes want a worldly image of looking like pacifists but I have not seen where they have used the Christ given “keys to the Kingdom” to loost past anathemas or remove auto anathemas from the many Church encyclicals, cannons and dogmas that past Popes have attached auto anathemas to. Thank you.
I was reading in another post where a Catholic convert, after digging into his new religion, found an auto anathema attached to cannons on Real Presence. Though he beileived in Real Presence, he was abit dismayed that the Church would put and keep a soul damning anathema on those who do not. Can you show us where this call to have Jesus bind sin on non believers of real presence, has been officially held loost, turned off and deactivated by modern Popes?

CANON I.-If any one denieth, that, in the sacrament of the most holy Eucharist, are contained truly, really, and substantially, the body and blood together with the soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, and consequently the whole Christ; but saith that He is only therein as in a sign, or in figure, or virtue; let him be anathema. Anathema
In passing this sentence, the pontiff is vested in amice, stole, and a violet cope, wearing his mitre, and assisted by twelve priests clad in their surplices and holding lighted candles. He takes his seat in front of the altar or in some other suitable place, amid pronounces the formula of anathema which ends with these words: “Wherefore in the name of God the All-powerful, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, of the Blessed Peter, Prince of the Apostles, and of all the saints, in virtue of the power which has been given us of binding and loosing in Heaven and on earth, we deprive N-- himself and all his accomplices and all his abettors of the Communion of the Body and Blood of Our Lord, we separate him from the society of all Christians, we exclude him from the bosom of our Holy Mother the Church in Heaven and on earth, we declare him excommunicated and anathematized and we judge him condemned to eternal fire with Satan and his angels and all the reprobate, so long as he will not burst the fetters of the demon, do penance and satisfy the Church; we deliver him to Satan to mortify his body, that his soul may be saved on the day of judgment.”
He who dares to despise our decision, let him be stricken with anathema maranatha, i.e. may he be damned at the coming of the Lord, may he have his place with Judas Iscariot, he and his companions.

CANON lI.
-If any one saith, that, in the sacred and holy sacrament of the Eucharist, the substance of the bread and wine remains conjointly with the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, and denieth that wonderful and singular conversion of the whole substance of the bread into the Body, and of the whole substance of the wine into the Blood-the species Only of the bread and wine remaining-which conversion indeed the Catholic Church most aptly calls Transubstantiation; let him be anathema. CANON III.
-If any one denieth, that, in the venerable sacrament of the Eucharist, the whole Christ is contained under each [Page 83] species, and under every part of each species, when separated; let him be anathema.
