I believe that the poster was an adult Catholic who had been through all of the sacraments.

As for his intent? From what he said it was just to do something his friend wanted him to do. But he had no intent to leave the Catholic Church. He seemed to think that the protestant baptism meant nothing to is was no big deal to just go along and make his friend happy. Basically caving in to social pressure for what he thought was nothing of significance.

The Protestant baptism that this Catholic poster went along with - he used the wrong logic here. The matter is not unimportant simply because one considers the baptism in this case to be invalid. The matter that is important is knowing that His Baptism was valid, and can only be done once.

This is a sacrilege to the work the Holy Spirit did when he was validly Baptised.

The Church does allow for in cases of doubt - that a persons baptism was done validly- a conditional baptism----

“Can. 869 1. If there is doubt whether a person has been baptized or whether baptism was conferred validly and the doubt remains after a serious investigation, baptism is to be conferred conditionally.”

Other than in this case here- a rebaptism for a baptized Catholic is out of the question. It is a sacrament with an idelible mark. As is the Priesthood.

Many heretics/schismatics during the history of Christianity have promoted and taught rebaptism. To think this is a light matter of no signifigance is to belittle the sacrament that one recieved.
