So, I have been attending the EF recently and purchased a 1962 Missal from St. John Cantius Church. As I was going through it I notice that it has an exorcism prayer for priest, but that the faithful may also say it in their own name for the same purpose of any approved prayer. The missal is from Angelus Press who I think they are associated with the SSPX. So I am wondering if saying the prayer ok? I have always thought that any excorcism prayer is to be said by a priest through the approval of the local Bishop? Only reason I ask is because again I am new to the missal and it is from 1962 and things might have changed:shrug:
I know some of you have this Missal, so you can find the prayer on page 1796: Prayer against satan and the rebellious angels. Thanks again.

There is no limit on what you are allowed to pray for. Remember, its not an incantation that can only be said by a priest without some other nefarious side effect when improperly done.

It is just a prayer. Feel free to pray any prayer invoking God’s mercy and intervention.

Is it this?:

It says lay people can use it, if I read it right. You omit the priests parts and actions.** My opinion: The idea is that a) You’re not a priest and b) You don’t want to take on devils personally: you want the Heavenly powers to do it. That’s important.**
Yep, thats the one. Good prayer in my opinion. This missal just keeps surprising me in how many great prayers and devotions it has.

I have been advised that the best exorcism prayers for a layman are the Our Father - Deliver us from evil - and the prayer to St Michael. Leave the problem to the professionals. 😉
